I wasn't saying it wasn't - I was suggesting using openvgdb as a starting point to create a online DB that is better integrated into retropie and also automatically takes submissions.
Like I said, today there is no way to manually fix the game metadata short of a hugely painful one-by-one effort that benefits no one else but yourself. Considering the hit rate of the scraper is quite low, it's a shame.

@rocklima2 I see. I'm currently testing with beetle lynx and I can confirm the BIOS stays in the proper system folder as they should so your fix is still better than it is currently. Ideally in game save files should be able to be sorted proper with the savefile_directorysetting rather than defaulting to the rom folder but it's better they default to the rom folder than the BIOS folder like they did.

You are looking for dispmanx vnc. It does not require X to function as it uses the dispmanx display driver. I've used it previously in an attempt to get to play from elsewhere but found the performance wasn't up to par on a Pi 2 for gameplay. For your purposes, it will probably work out fine. It's been probably a year since I used it last so I'm not really a go-to help source on it.

You can auto update the operation system without update the retropie stuff,
try to use the follow command lines:

sudo apt-get install unattended-upgrades
sudo dpkg-reconfigure unattended-upgrades

About update emulators and retropie setup stuff it's better doing manually, not just because can mess around with your configs but also because it's very time consuming in case you define the updates directly from the source.

Its a good idea but the emulators are called through emulationstation with runcommand which has system specific configs that you don't get when calling standalone emulators. RetroPie is designed to be used through the emulationstation frontend for that reason.
