That's because the previous version of the RetroPie image (4.5) was based on Raspbian Stretch. If you install the latest image (4.6), you'll be running on a Raspbian Buster image and the package could possibly work.

How did you install RetroPie ?

I added 'raspbian buster' to my sources list with no improvement.

That's strongly not recommended and could break some of your packages.

@marine88 I use the Plugable 4.0 BT dongle, but run it on a short USB extension cable so I can get line of sight. I use this old docking station, but I expect another of good quality should work (if I were you I'd get a powered one so you can at least take power drain out of the equation): link

Basically, get that Plugable dongle as it's amazing and get a decent USB caddy!

The quick menu does not let me remap the controls, but the retroarch menu does. There is one problem with that, though: it uses the right analog as the c-pad for the n64, and there is nothing that the d-pad in retroarch does.

You can access the mame menu from retroarch as well. There should be a setting under options to turn on the mame menu. Then you can remap the menu toggle button under general inputs.

@Jekku If you have the nespi case with a fan already installed, you must remove that fan before you can use the dual fan heat sink. Also, use some white scotch tape and tape the heat sink to the raspberry pi with a dry fit. The fan slot in the case can interfere with a proper install. But, there is a certain position while still being able to give full contact to the heat spots on the pi when it is installed. Also, recommend using the flat copper heat sink for the chip on the back of the board. I have actually done this but without the copper heat sink on the back of the board. To be honest those double fan heat sinks actually fall off rather easily if given a light to medium tap. It is better to just use the regular heat sinks with the Nespi case fan installed.

@mitu After remapping the controller as you stated and reviewing the config file, I tried holding Select then pressing Start, and it took me out of the game. Similarly, holding Select and pressing left bumper loaded state. In short, it seems to be working. It appears my understanding of the hotkey was incorrect. I thought you simply pressed the hotkey only to bring up the GUI.

@mitu I have attempted that but you dont have to wait to when using the up down left right arrows, i have tested this and it works before the time runs out

I agree with what you are saying.

However, Guarantee = safety factor in engineering. If I want to burn my Pi in 2 years instead of 20 and I want to approach S.F. to 1.0 by iteration because I want more from my machine, I do not see where the problem is. I saw a difference in the performance, that's the problem.

I think It's not a bad thing to explore It with knowingly and knowing the impacts.

Everyone has their opinion on the matter and that's fine like this.
