Are you sure you don't have an additional gamelist.xml in the ROMs folder (megadrive) ? EmulationStation will look there first and then in the gamelists/megadrive folder.

@RumblinBuffalo Thanks again - I'll look at updating retroarch shortly. Although I'm concerned after reading that thread that it will remove/reset all my IPAC keyboard controller mappings, which took me a long time to get right initially.

@bastelhannes I’m still learning the options myself, but did you check out the YouTube video in this thread?

    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/18078/lr-vice-drive-emulation-mapping-keyboard-strokes?_=1585745137490

I’m not sure it covered all the different options, but it did touch on mapping.

Thanks for the link and yes, I went there before but somehow got stuck, as I couldn't get into those menus shown there.

However, GOOD NEWS: I got the built-in controls to work !!!
After reinstalling retroarch yesterday I was just too dumb to figure out how the buttons were assigned. Once I found out that Y is Fire and B is to confirm keyboard-signs, everything turned out OK.
I mean, I can as of now really play C64-games just with the handheld console, without any hardware keybord or external USB-controller. That was, what I was looking for!
Thanks very much for your help so far!

BUT: Now the external USB-Gamepad (SNES) won't work correctly anymore for lr-vice :(
I dont know what went wrong. All other emulators are still working just fine with both, SNES controller and built-in hardware-buttons. It's only the lr-vice where the external SNES-gamepad acts strange since yesterday. It must have something to do with me updating Retroarch yesterday.
Is there a way to re-map the USB-controller for lr-vice only, but leave all other systems untouched? And most important NOT to mess-up those built-in controls again???

    Any ideas? Please?

Thanks for noticing. The scamming site is actually using Recalbox, which is quite similar to RetroPie and has a similar license.

Sorry for late reply. Yes that kinda looks like it, but not transparent and for all systems. I suppose it could be worth asking over on the Retroarch forum you think? Thanks again Mitu.

I played the game again, the game started brand new all over again.

If you press Start, you should have the option to Continue a previous save.

Is there anyway to save game on the emulator while playing Pokemon Crystal?

Yes, use the game's menu (Start button) to save your progress.

Ok, I just downloaded the official release again. Works fine. I have no idea what was happening before. User error I guess but I know I tried downloading it multiple times.

@InfinityBeing I think that the problem is that ES shows all the directories that contain files with the extensions listed in es_systems.cfg.
For example my port system is configured to only show sh and SH extensions. I have several subdirectories in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports, but since none of them contains *.sh or *.SH files they do not show up. If I create a directory in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/portsand copy an .shfile into it, the directory will show in ES.
I guess that your CaveStory subdirectory contains a file with an extension listed in the port section of your es_systems.cfg. To have the directory to not show up in ES I suggest you move it to another location, and update the Cave Story shell script to point to this location.

I think he may be using RetroArch for Android and hoped for this place to be of help. However, this is a RetroPie site and not a general RetroArch site.

Please don't post the same topic in different categories - once is enough, the forum is not that large.

We don't offer support for downloading ROMs - it's in the forum rules https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2/forum-rules.

    Why are
    these installation pages so barebones?
Why not have an FAQ error section below
the instructions, so people can see common
    errors other people have.

1st off the documentation is community maintained, it's nobody's job to update it. Or maybe I should I say it's all of our jobs to update it.

2nd, why do you assume that the issue you have is a common error?

3rd why are you hijacking someone else's thread?
