@sugarfree thanks! Good to know there is a way to do this from the terminal window. I ended up following the instructions from this video to reset the emulation station input configuration for the controllers.

@Retrodade There isn't anything in the code I can think of that would cause that but I'll keep a note in case it crops up again. Glad it's sorted! :-)

I have seen similar graphical glitches with Driver 76. I get rid of them when I run the emulator with Vulkan enabled. Maybe this fixes the issue with this game. I am using Pi5 and bookworm 64.

Solved

When I downgraded VLC to have faster video previews, it created the problem. Just re-use the script proposed by RapidEdwin08

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/RapidEdwin08/RetroPie-Setup/master/vlc-downgrade.sh -P ~/ chmod 755 ~/vlc-downgrade.sh ~/vlc-downgrade.sh

And select option 2 to re-install the original VLC version. Now you can re-install EmulationStation

Did you try updating EmulationStation ? The current stable release is 2.11.2, while you're still on version 2.10.1 from almost 3 years ago.

It's the emulator.

Hotkeys work only on the controller that's player 1 (P1), if your Bluetooth controllers is the 1st one detected - hence P1 - then the subsequent/other controllers will be P2/P3 and their hotkey enable button is disabled.

Without any indication about your setup (Pi model, RaspiOS/RetroPie version) and the actual error message(s) you get when trying to install, there's little we can do to help you. Also, phrasing.

I ended up having to do a full re-install of Mint Mate 22 for other reasons. This is my third install in the past 2 weeks and I hope I do not need to do so again.

Let it be known that even after a fresh full-reinstall of Mint Mate 22, the same lack of joypad recognition continues. I have to access the setup through terminal via the sudo command in order to make it work. Otherwise, accessing the setup through the Retropie OS itself does not enable joypad function in Mint Mate 22. I did not have this issue with Mint Mate 20.

@WeeFlats Sure, update Retropie and the included packages and then try the ScummVM core again.

Here with a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and Drastic, all games run without issue. I am running the latest version of RetroPie, 4.8.9. If you can update your system.

@abj Thanks. This fixed the audio for me.
On my unsupported pi5 setup, switching to the Pegasus frontend killed the audio, and switching back to ES was not fixing it.
