@ruckage thanks. Didn't see that. It's goodbye for him then. I will also wipe his signature.
-
@buzz That guy needs a hobby.

@buzz
Thank you, I appreciate it.
The whole situation has left me a bit deflated. I know it's only one person but I've never had a reaction like that before and I've worked on quite a few free projects in the past which I've shared on various forums. Perhaps I've just been lucky until now. -
@ruckage You've done very amazing work. Keep your head up high and ignore the negativity. There has been so much positive reaction and support for not only your NES/SNES/Famicom/Super Famicom but also your neogeo work......don't let a few bad apples spoil all the hard work and all those that support you.
-
@ruckage Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery my friend.
I completely understand and agree with you wanting to keep your art elements exclusive to your projects. People wanting to use your theme as a base won’t end anytime soon because you’ve set the bar. Don’t let one...unhinged(not sure that word does it justice) poster derail you. ✌️
-
@ruckage Don't let that guy get to you. We love what you're doing. The entire point of this project is replicating the look and feel of a system that most of us weren't able to get! You're doing us a service where Nintendo failed its loyal customers.
-
your work is great. Continue and do not let go of it.
-
@ruckage Just one bad apple in the bunch. So many of us appreciate all the work you put into your themes. That individual clearly has problems extending past RetroPie and these forums and this is (was) his outlet to lash out. Your work is awesome and I always look forward to what comes next with your NES Mini theme :)

@tmntturtlguy @LiveFastCyYoung @mattmanforever @Cybermen @Hyruleslink
Thanks, I appreciate your replies. And you're right, the reactions here have been overwhelmingly positive and that's what I should focus on. I'm happy that I can make something that people enjoy and find useful and intend to continue working on this and other projects for the foreseeable future. I realise work on this has slowed a bit lately but I just sometimes need to work on something different as you get a bit burned out doing the same thing for too long. I will be back to this soon though once my Super Famicom build is finished.
-
@ruckage That is completely fine. I've noticed a lot of work going on in the NES/SNES themes, so I believe you should probably try to take a break and come up with concepts to make something different.
-
Well I'm not leaving it behind just yet, I have a target of at least getting all of the systems on the to do list finished. I'm working on the SNES theme and my super famicom build so that's given me a bit of a change. I do have some completely new theme concepts though which I'd like to start work on at some point.
-
I know you are working on this and this and Snes theme so no rush just pointing it out haven't seen it mentioned yet but Nes mini doesn't show press X for Random Game and Y for Add to Favorite in bottom left corner of screen.
-
I'll get them added in the next version.
-
Wow, this is some awesome work!! my New favorite Theme, thanks for that. Hope to see MSX anytime soon :D I renamed Arcede for now so i dont have the empty space in the carousel :P
-
Hi @ruckage , just registered to say thanks for such a superb work. Nesmini is my favourite theme ever, looking forward to see what you have in store with the SNESmini theme.
Now, if I'm allowed to slip a humble request, have you considered supporting the Sega Saturn? lots of oldie classics there, like Sega Rally or the Panzer Dragoon series.
-
@svmariscal
Hi.I can add Sega Saturn to the list but is Saturn actually playable on the raspberry pi? I know it's supported but I'd expect it to be really slow and the videos I've seen of it running on the pi seem to back that up.
-
Hey @ruckage . I've been trying to get this theme running for a while now. I keep getting the white screen that everyone talks about. Well, I finally read (skimmed) through the million posts in here and discovered that I need to update Emulationstation. I just did that, and it works great!
Now, I am updating Kids Mode from source in hopes that it will work as well. My Retropie stays in the play room, so I really like the kiosk mode that is part of Kids Mode Emulationstation.
-
@ruckage ok, I thought it was a bit strange the absence of the Saturn in the supported list but I understand now :)
I can't really tell sorry, I'm using your theme on a windows 10 PC, and at least there the Mednafen Saturn core works like a charm. I don't really know anything about hardware, but I would expect the requirements being on par with other consoles of its generation like Playstation 1 or N64.
I do have a RPi, but it's the old B+ model and probably wouldn't perform brilliantly. Maybe someone with a RPi3 might chime in?
By the way, I had the same issue as @R2dTOO: I had to use the 1.x versions of nesmini because version v2 wouldn't work with the current official windows version of ES. That was until I updated to the last windows build by jdrassa, it works flawlessly now (many many thanks also to @jdrassa).
-
OK. This theme does not work with Kids Mode. It is built on an older version of Emulationstation. Hopefully the developers will update it soon.

@Zigurana is working on Kiosk mode for the main branch which I believe also incorporates kids mode. Link: Kiosk Mode, coming back [testers needed!]

From what I remember I think the Saturn requires quite a powerful PC to emulate it. If you search for videos of Saturn playing on a Raspberry Pi 3 it's painfully slow.
However as you're using a PC that won't be an issue for you. I've added it to the list but it will probably be one of the last systems I add support for as emulators that run well on the RPI take priority.However I will be adding default theme support in the next update so at least then you will get a generic theme for missing systems.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
