      • Micro Mashines (all parts) SNES/Megadrive/Genesis
      • NBA JAM - Megadrive/Genesis

      3/4 player games

@cyperghost I second the Mega Bomberman recommendation, though I couldn't make it work with 4 controllers on the Megadrive - but worked fine on the Saturn version.
My own recommendation for 2 players: King of Dragons - Neogeo/Arcade.

I came here just to second the Bishi Bashi suggestion.
Micro Machines is always a good one as well.
Super Mario War (ports) might be another one.
Worms can be fun as well.

An upside of Worms is everyone can use a single controller, and it gives other players a chance to drink, eat and trash-talk while awaiting their turn.

Some games that come to my mind, that can be played on a single screen with up to 4 players:

                -Bomberman-games.
                -Crash Bash
                -Worms-games
-Hogs Of War (can be played one after another)
-Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (same as above)
                -Metal Slug-games
                -Rampage-games
                -Tekken-games
-Super Mario-games (one after another in 2 Player-mode)

My soul rests, when I hear the PS1 boot music

Nothing like a classic Mame Beat-Em-Up for a party!

                    Ninja Baseball Batman
                    Simpsons Arcade
                    X-MEN (Welcome to DIE!)
                    Turtles in Time

And if anyone has ever played POY POY on psx, that is an epic party game of throwing logs and rocks at eachother, a true classic!

I'm under the impression that the Hyper Sports/Track and Field games also work well in turn-based multiplayer.

The Bishi Bashi games (arcade/ps1) are utterly insane. Worth a checkout..

My brother described this as an "aggressively Japanese, effed up, Mario Party" and I think he's dead on hahaha.

                            Great stuff!
                            Worms is a classic!

Thank you all for the suggestions!
I've just upgraded from a 16GB card to a 64GB so should be able to fit a lot more games on there :)

PSX - Crash Team Racing: 4-player Kart racing game that has easily been more fun to play than MarioKart 64. It's a blast with 4 people, especially when people get good and start memorizing the tracks.

                                Trash it for PS1
It's an action game where the 1-4 players have to destroy buildings with gigantic hammers. As a player, you take role of a construction worker who has only one mission: To smash everything to bits and cross the finish line before the opponents. Check it out on youtube it's actually great deal of fun.
