No sound in ES after doing update and theme installs
-
Updated all installed packages but chose not to update OS kernel due to some issues I've seen and then all was well but somewhere in the process while installing themes, I lost sound in my video snaps! My only sound source is external speakers, cpu type, input is 3.5mm jack and no additional speakers. Sound is still good within roms. I feel certain either the update or a theme install caused the change/issue I'm having. Any ideas would be much appreciated. I've tried setting to 3.5mm again and also local and speaker is set in ES.

So then your on 2.6.5 ES?
-
I'm not real sure, but I was using latest retropie 4.2 and then did the update all installed packages.
-
Are you using VLC or OMX player in ES? Do you have "use OMX player" enabled in the other options menu? Does it make a difference?
Maybe some update to the video player/library is causing that? Or something with the OS update?
-
@pjft I believe OMX player is the setting, but I will double check that
-
@normanmsu96 Can you post your settings config file
-
@hex Yes sir, I will when I get home. Thanks for the read and feedback !
-
Also post the output of this command
aplay -l
-
One thing you can try, if you're using OMX Player, is to run OMX player on the command line to play ones of the videos that don't have sound, and see if it does play with sound.
Just to confirm, you're getting the other ES navigation sound?
-
@hex Certainly will
-
@pjft What is that command?
-
@hex You mean type exactly that or sudo aplay -1 ....Sorry unfamiliar w key in commands
-
just the command. no need of sudo
-
@normanmsu96 in the command line, should be
omxplayer <video filename>

After all that I discovered I need sound setting in ES as PCM instead of SPEAKER. Back working !
-
So its working now?
BTW I was asking you for the es_settings.conf file. Also you should quote the Code you want to insert using this symbol ``` and it will look like this
Hello
-
@normanmsu96 huh. Did you set it to speaker at any point per chance? The default is PCM so I'm surprised that that was changed for you.
Glad you're sorted though.
-
@pjft I guess I had changed that but I don't recall doing it
-
@hex Yes working now, sorry for the confusion
