Retroarch 1.6.8 Released
-
So I was looking through the changelog for the new release of Retroarch and I saw this
This means that the onscreen messages can have a background to help them stand out. So you can now see your achievements onscreen without them blending in the the game.

@lilbud another great feature is Leaderboards support!
Tagging a guy who showed interest on it before @hansolo77

Don't forget the RetroArch Kiosk Mode to accompany the EmulationStation Kiosk Mode!

I updated the setup script and tried to update RetroArch core package, but it's still pulling 1.6.7. Just gotta keep waiting I guess. :)

@hansolo77 keep an eye on this PR: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/2209
You'll get 1.6.9 when it's merged. ;-)

@zigurana You will have the ability to hide certain menus in Retroarch. So you can hide any settings menu you want. It's very good if you have a system that is accessible by little siblings who break everything (my case) or someone h who has a living room setup or cabinet accessible by small children.
-
@lilbud this could be pretty great. Can it be used in the retropie default RGUI? Or is it an XMB only feature. It would be nice to hide everything but cheats option for the one Iām making for my little brother.
-
INPUT: Implement keyboard to gamepad input remapping (limited to one gamepad device for now)
What is this all about? Could it be used to remap the keyboard button needed to start games for Odyssey 2 games to a controller start button? Or am I reading that wrong?
-
@hansolo77 You can try again now! You'll get RetroArch v1.6.9 with Leaderboards support! ;-)
Just add
cheevos_leaderboards_enable = true
to yourretroarch.cfg
file.I'm going to update the wiki with this info.

Are there any Atari 2600 lover here?
Then let me tell you a secret, there are 2 active Leaderboards for atari2600 games on RetroAchievements server:
So enable the leaderboards feature on your
retroarch.cfg
and play those games!! -
Is this enabled by default? How does it work? Does anybody know?
ā INPUT: Implement keyboard to gamepad input remapping (limited to one gamepad device for now)
Because it could be the key to play GameMaker games :D
See:

@rion Analog buttons? AND keyboard-gamepad remapping?
oh I'm so in love with this update -
@hiulit GameMaker games are NOT played through RetroArch. Then, there's nothing new on that front.

Anybody else having trouble inside Retroarch? I updated mine today, and i now reads as 1.6.9. Once the "pretty" interface loads (vs the really simple one, I think this is called XMB?) I can't navigate. The background wave is animating, and it reads off all the onscreen info (where it shows your controllers being recognized, etc). Once I try to move the selection in any direction, up/down/left/right, it crashes and sends me back to RetroPie. Granted, I've not tried loading a game yet, I'm just trying to get a static RetroArch to open so I can get into it's settings. Anybody had this before?
EDIT Correction - I can go up and down in the first menu, but I can't move over to the next one.
EDIT 2 Looks like I can load up a game ok, but if I activate the RetroArch menu from within the game, the same results. Can't navigate left or right, just up and down. -
@hansolo77 maybe it's better to open a new topic for your problem. Don't forget to post your global
retroarch.cfg
file too! ;-)
