How to disable overlays / bezels
-
Hello,
I have been scratching my head over how to disable overlays / bezels in RetroPie / Emulation Station.
I am using a copy of Simply Austins 128g RetroPie to take a look around and figure out what settings I want to put in my own custom build. One thing that I cannot find how to disable is the overlay / bezel that shows when playing in systems.
For instance, in SNES games, there is a 'SNES' themed overlay / bezel around the cropped screen. I have looked high and low for a quick way to disable or change these.
Any ideas?
The SNES games run mostly through lr-snes9x2010
Thanks!

@thetraingoes As per https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, 3rd party images are not supported, since - as you discovered - each one has configurations that are non-standard for a RetroPie installation.
That being said, overlays/bezels are configured in RetroArch and you can disable them using the RetroArch GUI - bring it up with
Hotkey + X
while in game and disable the overlay/bezel. The image you're using might have specific RetroArch configs for the SNES core - see here. You can edit the SNES core configuration and remove the Overlay/Bezel lines for the SNES emulator.
