Audio issue with latest version of RetroPie
-
Quick note here, I'm not trying to use an external sound card or anything of the like, I'm running my Pi to a small amplifier via the 3.5mm jack. Not sure what shifted when updating but no hardware has been altered, etc. Not sure if that helps anyone help me fix the issue :)! Not sure how to revert the audio back to the original setting.

Sorry, not an attempt to bump here as I'm genuinely trying to figure this out on my own...but does anyone know the file or the location of the file that needs to be edited here? I can't seem to find any mention of ALSA or the sound card in general. It seems like it's looking for a card that doesn't exist so I'm assuming there must be a way to point it to the Pi's default card...any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have been running 4beta2 since it came out, I havent had an issue. I have mine running from jack to a small (15x15w in cabinet) amp as well. Is your Pi OC'd? Just curious. Some high OC settings can for sure wipe out data....
-
Can you define what you mean by OC'd in this case?
[UPDATE]: Oh, you mean overclocked. Yes it's overclocked but nothing drastic.
-
I'll double check the OC settings I'm using this evening but as mentioned they're not really pushing things much. I'm new with the Pi (not new to code or computers) but it seems to me that I might just need to fix a cfg file to ensure that the stock card is being pointed to...I just don't know which file to work with and where it's location :)!

I had the same issue last night and created a post - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2263/failed-to-start-store-sound-card-state
But I soon figured out I was using my old config.txt file which was missing:
# Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835) dtparam=audio=on
-
It's a frustrating one :)! So what did you do to resolve? Regrettably this is the first time I neglected to back up my old config...
Do I just hop into the current, look for that value and adjust accordingly?

Just copy this into your config.txt and save it :)
