So i'm wondering if anyone can help. I ran an update on the retropie menu. But when it rebooted it came up with the title of this post. Can't load the emulation station because of the shared libraries: libbrcmegl.so

Retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/emulationstation: error while loading shared libraries: libbrcmEGL.so:cannot open shared object file no such file or directory

I am inexperienced with running commands but i am able to follow instructions. If anyone can help.

It was working before but my ps4 controller had a bit of a mind of its own. (Moving on the menu's without pressing anything) this was why i tried the update. Wish i hadn't now. But surely this shouldn't happen. Right?

you probably won't find any help here with a third party image. We have no idea what was done to it. Download a fresh image from here and reimage the sd card.

@bg223 Selling RetroPie is against the project's license, and support for 3rd party images is not provided in the forums. You got scammed into paying for RetroPie and the people that sold you the system are scammers.

@mitu well i wouldn't of been able to put the machine together and all that's on it. They've been very approachable up til yesterday and are now on holiday until jan 2nd. I don't feel scammed as it was working pretty well before.

@bg223 Then, you should seek support from the people you paid.

@bg223 I understand your point, but would you have bought the package if it came without RetroPie ? The company is making money from selling their hardware with RetroPie, when the project's license prohibits selling. Did the package came with ROMs/Games also ? Because that would probably be also illegal a breach of copyright.

As @lostless said, we can provide help and support if you're using the RetroPie image, otherwise there's no telling what configuration the seller has made to it in order to work. If you want to continue on this path, then follow the installation docs and then give more details about the system, using the template provided in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@bg223 You should probably do that then.

@mitu fair enough. I appreciate the points made and now realise its wrong. All i'd say is i wanted a retro games box and this looked great. Its raspberry pi from what i've read. I'll wait for the dude to get back from holiday. Just wondered if anyone had encountered the same message and if there was any commands i could try to get emulation station retropie working again.

If the mods want to delete this thread then by all means. I tried but it says i can't once someone has replied. Appologies all.
