I have this weird problem where while using the retropie manager, where whenever I try to upload roms to certain systems, they immediately disappear after uploading. No errors at all.

        @joabro

I've never heard of Retropie manager, I normally either use sftp or Windows file sharing to upload ROMs to my pi.

A quick look at the documentation didn't lost anything obvious for Retropie manager. Where did you get it from?

Thanks @rbaker, can't believe I hadn't seen this before. I just found it in the Retropie modules.

@JoaBro I've tried it and can't see any issue of my system. My hunch would be a permissions error. Has this just started happening or have you always had the issue?

@simonster I just got the pie for christmas a week and a half and it has been on and off from the beginning. I had trouble with the nes in the beginning but that eventually worked, now it's N64 that isn't working. Any game i try to upload to N64 disappear immediatly, but the other consoles i tried 10 minutes later all worked.(Arcade and snes)

@simonster Just tried uploading the file to the N64 system, it failed, tried the exact same file on Arcade, and it worked flawlessly... (uploading, that is, i doubt playing that will work good :P)

                  Huh?!? Ehhhh... ok so:

When I tried to upload the rom through the Retropie manager it:

                  • Didn't show up in the retropie manager
                  • Didn't show up on the home screen of retropie
                  • Didn't show up in the file manager

I thought that the fact that i couldn't upload the file directly to the system i wanted was kind of annoying, but whatever, i'd just upload it to the wrong system and use the file manager to fix it by manually moving it, and deleting the old one.
I did that, but (even after rebooting) it:

                  • Didn't show up in the retropie manager
                  • Didn't show up on the home screen of retropie
                  • But did still show up in the file manager.
                    I don't think I'm alone when i say that that's pretty weird....

Ok, now you've said you got it at Xmas, I have to ask, are you using the official image or did you get something preloaded on a device? We can only support the official image here.

@joabro My advice is to use another method to upload a few ROMs, (via USB drive, over the network) then if you continue to have issues I would say start over fresh. Probably easier than troubleshooting the issue.
If the ROMs you transfer via an alternative method transfer and show then the issue is with the web manager.

I know this thread is 3 years old.... but.

I had the same problem, but it was inconsistent. I wanted to add Rugrider to the Commodore 64 emulator. I was dragging and dropping and everything but no luck. I was able to drag and drop plenty of other games though.

                          SOLUTION:
The file extension was .D64 and was failing. I changed it to .d64 and it succeeded. Seems that the file type is case sensitive for this instance at least.

                          Best of luck!

Maybe worth noting for folks who may not be aware - Linux is case sensitive, unlike Windows.
