    Hi Guys,

I am building 2 player arcade machine (using retropie of course) but I wish that it will have an option for 4 players just by using an additional 2 bluetooth gamepads like '8Bitdo gamepad'.

Is this possible? Like this I don't need to build a huge arcade to include 4 joysticks and so on.. but I would still have the option for 4 players if the game support it.

    Steve

@steveborg Sure, as long as you have Bluetooth enabled in the Pi, you can configure any additional controllers. You will need console/ssh access to pair them, just like described in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/8Bitdo-Controller/. The general consesus seems to be that the on-board bluetooth on the PI is not adequate, so you should add an USB Bluetooth dongle and disable the on-board Bluetooth on the Pi.

@mitu So if I'll use 2 Joysticks using IPAC 2 I can actually add another 2 bluetooth joypads to play 4 player games? Thanks for helping out :)

@mitu I was ordering from an online site and they told me that you cannot mix 2 joysticks using IPAC with 2 bluetooth gamepads, it's either 4 joysticks or 4 bluetooth gamepads. They were really clear about this.

Do you know anyone who tested it?

@steveborg Ordering what ? The gamepad detection/configuration/activation is up to the emulator, so I don't understand how that would be tied to the hardware.

Well, I don't have an IPAC, but maybe some forum members can chime in with their experience, but IMHO shouldn't be an issue as long as all controllers are detected by the system.
