Customisable menu sounds?
-
How customisable are the sounds for selection? for instance the menu system (left and right) and game selection (up and down)
Once inside a system menu, is there any way of randomising the game selection movement sound (when you press up or down and select)?
If yes, can someone let me know where these mp3s are kept so i can change them?
-
@nevsan As things are at the moment in ES it only support a single scroll sound. These cannot be randomised as far as I know. Most themes do not support scroll sounds but some obviously do. The default
Carbon
does for example.
If you wanted to change this you need to swap out the file in/etc/emulationstation/themes/carbon/art/
calledscroll.wav
with another.wav
format file. -
Well i suppose it might be more customisable later in its development, and having specific sounds (and random if the system has lots of recognisable sounds to use, if wanted) per system menu would be aces.
Thanks for the info :)

@nevsan The RetroPie branch of Emulation Station is actively developed. It's really just a matter of someone wanting the feature enough and having the ability to code it.
Given as most would see it as a fairly low priority addition I can't see it happening any time soon, unless you can code in C++ and fancy a project... -
True. Just a want. Oh well no worries.

@nevsan It's a neat little feature, like a mario coin collection left to right and a space invaders shot up and down.
Personally I totally despise GUI navigation sounds. They just grate on me. I know I'm scrolling... They are the first thing I turn off in the likes of Kodi, an amazon firestick, a steamlink... -
