Editor not editing

I am using the built in config editor which was working normally but now I no longer have any right left cursor control. I cam move up and down, hit enter, add text but no blinking cursor. also I do not remember the editor background being baby blue. I thought it was white before.

never mind it is editing just cant see the cursor anymore so hard to tell where im at.
