      What is the MAME ROW?

      MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME Reference Set to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!

      Notes:

      1. We usually post hi-scores screenshots after playing with only one credit. If you used more than one credit, please mention it on your post.

      2. There's no need to use RetroPie to join the MAME ROW! You can play it on any platform you want.

      3. Feel free to post your hi-score (or any content about the game) anytime you want on the previous rounds topics (link below).

      Every Monday we create a topic at the "General Discussion and Gaming > MAME Random Of the Week" forum section with the 3 random games to be voted. And on Wednesday we check the result.

      These "rules" are constantly being improved!

          Ooops, didn't get time to try these out this week - I've been too busy working on my new FRANKENCONTROLLER - made of all the bits I had left over from upgrading my picade over the last couple of years. It uses one of those cheapo Ebay zero-delay USB encoders, I was interested to see if they worked.

          Amazingly it all works (needs a bit of artwork to brighten it up though) . I'll give it a full playtest with Thrash Rally this week!

            @obsidianspider Sadly the choice in this week is bad for competition. But I didn't vote but I think Saboten Bombers would be my personal weeks favourite.

            I worked on the SaveStateManager these days and just forgot to vote :(

            @GtBFilms What's this little Netbook?

              Has anyone made a cabinet with a proper steering wheel? Is it even possible? I just can't get into driving games using a joystick. I tried playing Chase HQ on Mame yesterday and I was more off the road than on it. I find you just don't have the same level of control.

                Sure, it'd work just like a spinner dial. With the right hardware driver, you could even map g-sensor input from a Wiimote and use the Wii Steering wheel. I've personally been thinking of getting a pair of Switch joycons to have a go at mapping the various Nintendo Labo projects on RetroPie when they're released. The steering wheel and gas peddle should work especially well in MAME.

                  @cyperghost It's a Samsung N220 Plus.

                  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-10-1-inch-Netbook-1-66GHz-Bluetooth/dp/B003R6TOEM

                  Its pretty slow, I got it not long before tablets really appeared and pretty much wiped out the need for netbooks overnight! So it was a bit of a waste of cash to be honest.

                  It's sat unused in a cupboard for years, and recently I decided to wipe the 'Windows 7 Starter Edition' off it and reinstall good old Windows XP. It actually runs fine now - with an old (0.48) version of MAME. Quite nice for testing hardware with (and I use it for rooting tablets too).

                    @domogram-rovers Yes, I have a friend who has a cabinet with interchangeable control panels. And one of them is a steering wheel.

                    I'm not sure how he connects it, but I notice that these USB zero-delay controllers have four analogue device connections, so I'm guessing those could be used for a suitable wheel.
