HELP!! In games not saving!
-
@semper-5
Stupid question I know, but are the highscores turned on in Retroarch. If you press Select then X whilst in a game, it brings you to the Retroarch menu, where you can turn on/off high scores.
Have you the latest cores available for the setup?
I had an issue with my arcade gam.es not saving, but thanks to immense help on here it was resolved.
Try searching for Games not saving or Hi score not saving, and you will find loads of help on different issues. May be one of them can help you out -
@impman66 Thanks, I'm currently using a keyboard since I have no controller just yet. but I can't bring up the retroarch menu with that shortcut
-
@semper-5 How are you saving the game state from a keyboard ? When you save, do you see the Retroarch message 'saving state ...' at the bottom left ?
-
I stated this is "in-game" saves. game save files are not being created.
not save states

@semper-5 What version of RetroPie are you using ? Please give more details, including the ROM you're trying out and the emulator used - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

I think it is F4 for the retroarch menu, It all depends when you first configured your pie with the keyboard as to what you used for the hotkey shortcuts. I am sorry I don't really know enough about it but Mitu helped me out and I am sure he can advise better. -
@mitu Rtropie version: 4.9.35-v7+ armv71
ROM: Super Metroid
emulator: lr-snes9x2010but I've tried a bunch of various ROMs and none work. its just so weird how it worked the first time days ago but since then (even after a clean install) its not working anymore

Sorry, not able to help much more. Did you update the emulator from source or binary? I don't know how much knowledge you have so don't want to teach you to suck eggs. Also have you tried looking at Retroarch in the Retropie menu, this may give you a clue as to what is assigned to what, so helping you see what you need to press "in-game".
But as I say do a search on the forum, it really does help.Best of luck, and sorry I have reached limit of my capabilities.

@semper-5 Battery saves are stored in a
.srm
file, alongside the ROM file. If they're not saved, maybe you don't have right permissions on the folder where the ROM is stored.
Run the game with verbose logging, you can enable it in the Runcommand launch menu (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/#runcommand-launch-menu), try to do a save or just start the game. Paste the output of the log file (/dev/shm/runcommand.log
) to a site like pastebin.com to see if any errors are logged there. -
@mitu yup I'm very aware of all of that. and I did some snooping around in retroarch.
and now this is VERY weird. I accidentally deleted the entire rom list I had in the SNES dir. sent it all back on SSH, tried a game and VOILA, now it saves.
I have no idea as to why or how its working now
