One of my emulators suddenly lost sound that was previously working
-
@mitu - YOU DID IT MAN! You have some MAD skills!!! I'm pretty certain you've fixed my machine! I don't know how I can ever thank you enough, when I have time I'll post a picture of what we've been working on. I made a 1/2 scale donkey kong machine from scratch. (I'm a graphic artist by trade so the graphic parts came easily)
Thank you again! YOU ROCK!
RETROPIE now has sound, issue fixed, I think... need to go play a little. -
@mitu and @CyberDon83 -- thanks guys, you're so awesome for helping me out!
Made both of these for fun.

@keeppumpin There are no mad skills. I'm glad you got it sorted out and your cabinet looks like a fun and project.
Once you're happy with your setup (controlers, games, etc.) I suggest you make a backup of your SD card, just in case (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/#making-a-backup-option-1). -
@keeppumpin
Those look like they are a lot of fun. Iām glad you were able to get things sorted. š -
@keeppumpin use pastebin for walls of text

@mitu Thanks again for the help, any idea what might have caused my sound to stop working in lr-mame2003? I'd like to prevent this happening again. I've created copies of my SD cards (I think the program I used was called USB Tool, or something) but my backup is really old so need to make a new one with current settings.

@herb_fargus Sorry about posting from pastebin incorrectly, in the future I will try to take more time to make sure that I'm posting appropriately. I sure do appreciate this excellent forum and the knowledge that users share and help each other with!

@keeppumpin Looking at the
retroarch.cfg
you pasted, I'd guess the fact that you muted the audio output in the settings (audio_mute_enable=true
) caused your problems.
EDIT: as @herb_fargus said, use pastebin.com when posting the contents large text files. You paste the contents on the site's textbox and then provide the link here in the forum. -
@mitu Weird, is there someplace to mute the audio inside emulationstation that isn't obvious? The audio tab on the emulator had the mute setting set as "off", the volume setting kept defaulting to zero and it reset to that value and wouldn't allow me to save a value. Obviously, I still have a ton to learn!
