So I have the age old dilemma that some games are not working for Neo Geo. Yes my roms are from a FBA 0.2.97.42 set and I am using the compatible lr-fbalpha emulator with the correct bios. These few will also not work with emulators gngeopi, or lt-fbalpha12.

I can get the few that don’t work to run with the pifba emulator but that one seems pretty lame and I can’t even get the controller set up in it.

That said, as a temporary work around, how can I add mame to the list of emulators to choose from in Retropie for Neo Geo? I know I can get mame to work with Neo Geo games in the Mame section of emulation-station

Thanks for any help. Tried searching here and couldn’t find how to add an emulator to a given system.

@joeljoel1947 Adding an emulator for a system is described in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Add-a-New-System-in-EmulationStation/. You basically need to add the emulator to the /opt/retropie/config/neogeo/emulators.cfg. Take a look at /opt/retropie/config/arcade/emulators.cfg for an example where both lr-fbalpha and lr-mame2003 can be used.
Btw, have you tried installing fbalpha to run the games (not the libretro core) ? You need to copy the game rom (and bios file) to the fba folder.

i can’t believe that there are any neogeo games in the .42 set that don’t work in lr-fbalpha. can you list the ones you have problems with? there must be something else going on here.

If some of your roms work with pifba but not with lr-fbalpha, they are definitely not from a FBA 0.2.97.42 romset.

@joeljoel1947 Tell us which games. Better yet, give us MD5 hashes of the extracted rom files of an affected game.
