Editing the official wiki etiquette

So I'd like to make some changes particularly to the N64 optimization page, I feel like there is some misinformation and/or tips that aren't particularly useful especially for the average user. I would like to do a fairly large edit of the page but I don't want to step on the toes of those who spent their time editing it before me. Whats the proper way to handle this? Should I remove sections I don't agree with or just add my own personal caveats explaining why the average user shouldnt use them? Would appreciate any guidance on this!

Personally I never cared for this page as I agree, much of it is rubbish. Anyways really the only thing it should say is: stop while you're ahead, use a PC for N64.
But if you feel you can improve it I have no qualms, but I'm sure people would be happy to provide feedback if you share your change proposals here

I think that the proper way to edit it is to put an asterisk next to the things you disagree with and right beside it explain why you disagree, but if they are flat-out wrong just delete it.

@herb_fargus thanks herb appreciate the feedback! I will take your advice and post my proposed changes here for feedback first. I have got N64 running well on my pi (at least for most games anyone cares about). So I'd like to share my tweaks that have made it a more enjoyable experience. Thanks again.
