@rasp_renegade Does it work with VLC as video player ? Then the problem might be the video, it could be encoded with a video codec not supported by omxplayer. This comes up from time to time - see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/12210/neo-geo-and-arcade-not-showing-video-previews-steven-selph-scraper/.
You could re-encode the videos to a format supported by omxplayer. See https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/12590/how-to-properly-convert-video-snaps-for-emulationstation/16 for some options using handbrake or https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/15362/script-batch-convert-yuv-4-4-4-videos-to-yuv-4-2-0-in-retropie-linux.

Thanks @mitu I guess I should have added that bit. I used video scrapes from the internet that do play in VLC (tested in Windows, but not my Pi). ES version 2.6.3RP and all set-up scripts updated

I disabled OMX player to no avail. At least, I turned off from UI settings.

One of those links showed a <video> tag in that gamelist.xml file? is that needed, because I see no video tags?

@rasp_renegade Does the ES theme you're using have the video option ?

@rasp_renegade Then check if the video path set in the gamelist.xml file has the correct settings. Check the Emulationstation log (/home/pi/.emulationstation/es_log.txt) and see if you spot any errors related to the video.

There are no <video> tags for any of the roms in the gamelist.xml. I tried to manually enter, no results.
No errors, related that I can see in the log. This means it is loading the video just not displaying?

For reference and a bunch of TMI. Guess I need to manually purge entries from the xml for files I moved??

@rasp_renegade Your gamelist.xml file should contain the video tag pointing to the video file with the preview for the game, otherwise it would not work at all. Also - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first - please give more details about your system.

Well that certainly explains a lot. What is responsible for coding that?

                    Rasperry Pi 3
                    RetroPe 4.3 from SD image
                    EmulationStation 2.6.3RP
PSU wired via GPIO pin to arcade cabinet source (switching PSU)

Here is output DMESG if it helps

The scraper usually adds the video tag when adding all the metadata and artwork downloaded. Use UXS or Steven Selphs's scraper and they download and add the proper video tags to your gamelist. If you already have the video, then you could add the tags - with the proper paths - yourself.

I have it installed and verified from the package list. When I go to scraper settings the only source I have is "THEGAMESDB"

I verified with this video after it did not work

The Emulationstation built-in scraper has only TheGamesDB as source, but Steven Selph's scraper you should be able to change it and get video snaps also - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Scraper/.

                            @mitu again you rock!!

After watching the video in your link, I found where I needed to turn off the OMX Player. (even though he syggested it be on) It is off and now I see the video preview!!! Love it. Thanks a lot. I still do not see <video> tags anywhere though.
