I cannot get and Nintendo 64 game to work.
      Hardware: Rasp Pi 3 B, Xin-Mo USB
I am running HyperPie 2 and, for the most part, most games work. All buttons and joysticks are mapped correctly and are working correctly.

Nintendo 64 games do not work with the joystick or buttons. I have a keyboard attached and that appears to be working with the N64 games.
I think I may have found the problem, but I have no idea on how to fix it.

      1. I looked at mupen64plus.cfg in \retropie\configs\n64 folder and confirmed the contents to be correct for the Xin-Mo and joys.
      2. I ran Mario Kart 64.
      3. Tested joystick and buttons and they do not work.
      4. Looked at mupen64plus.cfg again, and it was modified.

I have no idea how this gets modified. Is this the issue?
How can I get N64 games to work with the buttons and joysticks? Any help?

        @magicpinball take a look here:

        /opt/retropie/configs/n64/InputAutoCfg.ini

I suspect this is where you need to make your edits

That file is fine. When I try to run Mario Kart, the mupen64plus.cfg file changes. The [Input-SDL-Control1] section, the "name=" changes from "Xin-Mo Xin-Mo Dual Arcade" to "Keyboard"

            HyperPie 2

Because it’s not a retropie image at all, I am not sure how much help we would be as we don’t have HyperPie...

HyperPie is really the front-end and it shouldn't matter.
Basically, I can't get any games in N64 to work and use the joystick and buttons. But the keyboard works. This tells me the emulation is working. Whatever is changing "mupen64plus.cfg " for whatever reason is the issue. I can't believe no one else is having this issue.

@magicpinball HyperPie is what is changing the emulator...

Retropie for example is the front end....

HyperPie is an operating system and you would have to contact thier support as it is very likely they have something

you were told to look in the .ini, not .cfg

Looking in file InputAutoCfg.ini, the keyboard settings in this file are transferred to mupen64plus.cfg when N64 Mario Kart (or any N64 game) is run, not the Xin-Mo Xin-Mo Dual Arcade settings.

I think I may have found the solution to my problem.
There may be an issue with the Xin-Mo USB controllers.

The Xin-Mo controller that I have has an internal identification as: Xinmotek Xinmotek Dual Controller
In the configuration files sent to me, has it is identified as: Xin-Mo Xin-Mo Dual Arcade

Change the name in the configuration file, appears to solve the problem.
