Some PlayStation games not working
-
Hi Guys,
I'm having some trouble with certain PS1 games.
I read through the handful of related posts but didn't see anything that helped me.
I'm trying to get a game called Discworld working, it loads through a couple of game screens and then gives me a large rainbow colored cube with "sample oversize load error."
The other game that's not working is The Hive. This is a two disk game which freezes on the opening "Trimark interactive logo."
I'm using lr-pcsx-rearmed and I have SCPH1001.bin in place. I have no problems with Crash Bandicoot, Abe's Oddworld, Road Rash, Tony Hawk, etc.
I was going to try lr-beetle-psx but I didn't see that package in main or optionals so I haven't checked that out yet.
This is running on a 3B+ with version 4.4.1.
Maybe these ROMS are just bad rips. Has anyone successfully played either of these or have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any tips. π

Discworld (USA) works fine for me using LR-PCSX-ReARMed r22 [Can you check your PCSX version? just open RetroArch while in a PS1 game and it says what it is in the bottom left corner].
I assume you are using NTSC (North American region) roms?
lr-beetle-psx doesn't run any PS1 games (or at least well) on a Raspberry Pi, so don't worry about that one.
Try updating PCSX from source/binary (from the retropie setup script) and see if there is any difference between the two.
Trying a new ROM or try the non-LR version of PCSX would be my recommendation if the above doesn't fix it.
UPDATE: I just tested two ROMs of "The Hive" and I can confirm that they do not work (freezes on Trimark Logo) in lr-pcsx-rearmed or pcsx-rearmed, so I think you are just out of luck on that one :/

Thanks for checking that for me. I guess I'll have to consider the hive dead for now. I think this may have been a PC game originally so maybe I'll go that route later.
I recently updated the emu from source but I'll check the version when I get home and try the other things you mentioned.
Thanks

@keltron3030 This may or may not help, both these games appear to be available as eboots for PSP. Itβs a bit of a workaround, but if you really want to play those games it may work?
-
Thanks I'll give that a try.

@keltron3030 which game did you get working?
-
Oh, sorry... Discworld. I didn't try to find a different copy of the hive.
-
@keltron3030 thats what i was figuring. Even the .pbp file of the hive locks up. I even tried changing all the core options to see if something was triggering it and no matter what it locked up

Yeah, it may be better on PC with a keyboard anyway.
