Am I right in thinking if you connect a PS3 controller to your raspberry pi then you can't use anyother bluetooth device due to the PS3 controllers bluetooth stack?

Yes, and I was referred here for a solution but haven't had time to play with it yet:

If you uninstall the PS3 driver, the controller will still work, just it will no longer vibrate or turn itself off automatically. But you get full Bluetooth back.

I go the other way. Connect my 8bitdo controller then install the ps3 drivers. The 8bitdo still works and my ps3 controllers connect fine and vibrate etc like they should

                Never tried the other way.
