May 2018 Game of the Month: Quackshot Starring Donald Duck
-
@hooperre No nostalgia for me as I never had a Sega as a kid.
-
@lilbud My suggestion for June: Riviera - The Promised Land - Game Boy Advance
-
@obsidianspider So its like a Final Fantasy Tactics type of game? Or closer to Fire Emblem?
The Promised Land
-
@lilbud I've never played either of those so I'm not sure how to answer your question. It's an RPG.

They're both really nice tactical RPGs. 'Riviera' is pretty unique within the RPG genre, as it contains certain dating sim elements that you don't really see anywhere else.

The following people can throw a game selection into the poll
Me - Pokemon Fire Red
@meleu - Shinobi III
@obsidianspider - Riveria: The Promised Land
@mediamogul - Robocop vs Terminator -
My suggestion for June is the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive version of 'Robocop vs. the Terminator' . I could talk up this particular action title all day, but I'll leave it to the 'Classic Game Room' review below.

Poll is up for June:

@lilbud I still will never understand the appeal of Pokemon games. It's just grinding with nothing else.

Yeah, I agree. I have no nostalgic feelings towards them as I was too old for them when those games came out (they were the games my youngest brother played - no one my age was interested in them ) and despite giving them a go on several occasions I quickly get bored. I will perhaps give pokemon another go at some point to see if I can figure out what all the fuss is about but I don't hold out much hope.

@ruckage The earlier ones are much better, once they got to the later ones and they started to slip

Ouch, then I'm really not going to be impressed by any then as it's the original gameboy versions I've tried (I still have a few on cart I think that were my brothers).
-
@lilbud I still have Yellow from when it was new. I keep trying to get into it, but I can't.
-
@ruckage Firered is a remake of the original gameboy ones. (If that is any consolation)
-
I have Pokemon blue on cart and I'm sure I have the yellow one somewhere as well.
I also have pokemon pinball which is a rumble cart and that is an awesome game as is pokemon pinball on GBA. -
We can't all like the same games anyway and pokemon must be popular for a reason. I'll maybe give it one last try this month and see if my mind can be changed.
-
@ruckage I'll give it a go too. Maybe it sucks less than Yellow did. I looked up the value of mine (CIB) and it's like $70. Crazy.

I've always wanted to like Godzilla movies. On paper I should. I love monster movies and the various kaiju, with all of their distinct background stories should really pique my interest. However, after many failed attempts to get into them, I just have to admit, I'm simply not a Godzilla fan. Same likely goes for me and Pokemon. I love RPGs and the idea of virtual pets who can battle each other seems fun, but over the years I've started various Pokemon games and I always find myself playing something else before too long. Still, hope springs eternal. I haven't completely given up on this series yet and I'll certainly go into 'Pokemon Fire Red' with an open mind.
