When I press hotkey plus x in a libretro emulator, is it normal that RetroPie defaults to that ugly green rgui interface that doesn’t have any tooltip hints, or did I mess something up?

I expected to see the modern xmb style interface that Retroarch has defaulted to for over five years now...

@rsn8887 If it looks like this then it's normal :

Retroarch is version 1.7.3 if I'm not mistaken; this is an old picture sure, so it's current. My opinion is the chosen theme has a great retro look to it and I would assume that was intended.

You can probably change it in global retroarch.cfg. The tooltips are available if you press START.

I also prefer the rgui, on a CRT it's the only option anyway. But I do wish it was possible to reorganize the menus...

Ah yes nevermind. I found this discussion
          https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/1990

and it can be easily changed to a different style. Thanks for verifying there’s nothing wrong with my install.

Yeah Retroarch still set rgui on default, to get xmb change it on retropie setup (if you saved core it will be unaffected and you must edit cfg).
