      Hi all,
This problem is seriously making me lose my mind...

I'm on RetroPie 4.4, trying to use lr-prboom to load some Doom mods. I've looked at the wiki and followed the instructions, and spent over 3 hours following several other guides from around the internet and no joy.

Example: trying to run the Batman Doom mod.

I have a folder set up at /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/batman
This folder has symlinks to the prboom.wad and doom2.wad (needed by batman mod), as well as the batman.wad and batman.deh files, and a prboom.cfg which links to the batman.wad and batman.deh files.

I have a script called Batman.sh in the ports directory which contains the below:
      **#!/bin/bash
      "/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh" 0 PORT "doom" "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/batman/doom2.wad"
      **
The shell script has +X permissions.

Every time I run Batman.sh, it loads up the vanilla version of doom2 - it seems to completely ignore the the prboom.cfg I have in the "batman" folder which tells it to load my custom .wad and.deh files.

What am I doing wrong? Is there any easier way to load Doom mods, like a gui menu or something?

If someone has functional Doom mods working in their RP setup, could you possibly link me to a download of your folders/files? I'll provide my own commercial Doom wads, that's not a problem. I'm just at my wit's end with this...

@afriendnamed5 you need to edit the emulators.cfg to change what emulator loads. Also not sure if pr-boom can run batman.

@afriendnamed5 Maybe you need a space after PORT before "doom"?

If that doesn't work, you could always get DosBox and run it through that. DosBox is my next hurdle to learn how to use.

            @edmaul69

Edit the cfg in what way? Because ideally I want to use lr-prboom - I tried zdoom and batman had random gfx glitches, and the controller didnt work in the menus.

Everything I've read says prboom should work fine, I just can't work out why it's not acknowledging the custom prboom.cfg in the batman folder.

Tried the space thing - weirdly it IS there in my actual script, something must have gone weird when I copy/pasted it here.

And dosbox is way too much faff and hassle for me, my patience is almost non-existent at the best of times!

@afriendnamed5 i dont think you can use batman doom on lr-prboom. As for the glitches you need the batman doom patch. Batman doom plus is better too as it fixes other issues with batman doom as well.

Ok,so I've switched to zdoom and am trying to get the controller to operate in the menu so I don't need a keyboard.

I've seen @mediamogul's post about using xboxdrv and I honestly don't understand it, I'm no code junkie.

I'm trying this method [here] (https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/16078/zdoom-and-gampad-fully-working-in-menu-with-no-keyboard&ved=2ahUKEwj45MWg_c7bAhULTcAKHc9GAmkQrAIoADAAegQICBAL&usg=AOvVaw2ONXORvHygVePb7rGmylnf) but can't get zdoom to recompile.

Has anyone tried the above method? Maybe can share their recompiled zdoom files?
