I'm using a Pi 3 Model B, and I just updated to 4.4.2 a couple of days ago. Something strange happened when I did: My preexisting NES saves no longer load. The files are all still there, and I can save new saves and load those. But it's as if all of the ones I had from before the update don't exist.

Even stranger, the other systems all work. Genesis, Sega CD, SNES, GBA, etc, all test as working when it comes to loading saves from before or after I updated.

Any theories? If so, is there any way I can "refresh" (for lack of a better word) those files somehow using WinSCP or another means so that I don't lose them? Note that I've tried both NES emulators (fceumm and NEStopia), and the problem is identical.

    Thanks very much.

@montecore I think this has been reported before - probably due to changes in the emulators' code, the save states are no longer compatible. There's nothing we can do about it, most likely it's the new RetroArch run-ahead feature that triggered those changes in the recent versions of those emulators.

@mitu Ah, sorry for the repeat question. I searched before I asked.

Sounds like there's nothing that can be done. I guess the good news is that it seems to be limited to just the one system. Thanks for your response!

Well, you could manually recompile it from an earlier version to get back to where it was but as far as converting the savestates I'm not aware of any method
