      Hey!

Before jumping in the Retro Pi bandwagon (yay!), could someone tell me if I should expect more lag than a PC running OpenEmu with PS3 wireless controllers? I ask because, when I use a PS3 controller wirelessly with my Mac, I can feel a lag playing games. I basically hope that a wired controller with a Pi setup won't have any lag input from the controller.

So, in short, should I go for a wired controller to prevent as much lag as possible? Will it be better than PS3 wireless controllers on a Mac running OpenEmu?

      Thanks for your thoughts! :)

A wired solution will always have the potential to produce the least amount of lag, even if it's just by one frame. That being said, there are many people using a wireless controller setup with RetroPie and lag is not something that is complained about often. The only times you're really going to notice 1-2 frame controller lag anyway is in games like 'BattleToads' on the 'Clinger-Winger' level or when fighting Mike Tyson. To further reduce the possibility of lag, make sure you turn off any video post-processing features that your television might have.

@mediamogul Thanks for the quick reply!

I have to say, to beat Contra, that 1-2 frame can really make a difference! ;)

I'll go hunt the other forum posts for the best wired controller...

Yes it can and it's funny, I really can't think of any system outside of the NES where PERFECT timing is so absolutely crucial, right down to a frame or two. Granted, it's not an issue in nearly every game, but when playing a title that is already next to impossible, every little advantage most certainly helps.
