      Hey all -

I have my system almost running perfectly. Thanks to everyone for helping me so far on my retropie 4.4 build.

One of the final issues remaining is adjusting trackball sensitivity. I have seen videos and such on how this is done via tab menu - however my mame2010 doesn't seem to have that menu available.

Is there a manual line I can add to retroarch.cfg for the specific game cfg file to adjust that value?

Biggest hurdle I am having is for marble madness. Trackball just doesn't respond fast enough at all. Most games are fine just some require adjustment.

      Thanks for the help.

@thezoof Hi, did you manage to have the trackball to work with RP 4.4?

@albecacif Yup - Trackball works perfectly as per Retropie manual.

The only issue I have is I can't adjust the sensitivity via the cfg file and I can't see any sensitivity options in retroarch gui.

            @thezoof Any specific reason why you're not using advmame, lr-mame 2003 or lr-Fbalpha ?
All these allow you to set sensitivity of trackball (mouse).

@UDb23 No specific reason. I did try lr-mame 2003 however same issue occurs as 2010. I thought FBalpha had no trackball options.

@thezoof The new fbalpha version does.

@thezoof For trackball & lr-mame-2003 you can check this thread.

Hi @thezoof , which version of 2003 are you using? I was not able to get the trackball to work in rp 4.4. Only in rp 4.3 with an old version of retroarch.
                    Check this thread: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/18928/mouse-not-working-in-lr-mame2003/8

Thanks all - I can get trackball to work with any emulator. That is not the problem. My problem is for marble madness I can't get the sensitivity high enough to enjoy. All other games seem to work fine (millipede, missle command, star wars... etc)

                      Sorry for the confusion.

@thezoof I'm using MAME2010 (latest source) and I'm able to access the in-game menu. I've done this specifically for Marble Madness and it works. Regardless, whether you're using MAME2010 or another version, you'll definitely need to access the in-game menu, since [I don't believe] there is a simple/single setting in Retroarch that will get you what you want.

Once you're able to run Marble Madness on a version of MAME that yields the in-game menu (along with a compatible ROM), do this:

Run Marble Madness and activate the in-game MAME Settings menu (how to activate it varies depending on which version of MAME you're using, but Tab (like you mentioned) on a keyboard usually works.)

Check for "Analog Controls". If you don't have Analog Controls option, you could try a different version of MAME.

Play with "Track X Digital Speed" and "Track Y Digital Speed" as well as sensitivity.

The values for my trackball (for player 1) for Marble Madness are:

                        Track X Digital Speed: 35
                        Track X Sensitivity: 50
                        Track Y Digital Speed: 30
                        Track Y Sensitivity: 50

The digital speed settings were key (overriding the default values of "10"). Your settings may vary.

                        Good luck!

@roslof Thanks. I was able to do the same thing. I guess the issue was only with mame2003.

Thanks a lot for the confirmed values. I am using those and it works great.

The digital speed settings should not affect analog controls like trackpads.

There is no sensitivity for all games, each needs to be set according to the encoder wheel used in each machine.

Information here on finding the sensitivity value needed for each game:
