Sonic the Hedgehog - wrong memories?
-
I am absolutely certain that during my childhood I played a "standard" Sonic the Hedgehog game (i.e. not a spin off type title like Spinball, or a 3D version) where when you cross the finish line and as you spin the sign you can keep it in the air by jumping, and hitting it from underneath.
I have really fond memories of playing a sort of "keepy uppies" game with my friends on how could keep it going the longest. I don't think anyone ever managed more than 3 or 4 goes!
But... which Sonic game was this?! I only had a Mega Drive and Master System from Sega as a kid, and I fondly remember Sonic 1 on both these systems, but for whatever reason never really got into Sonic 2, 3, Knuckles etc and I can't find this "keep the sign up" invented game.
Have I just invented an entire aspect of my childhood, or did this actually happen in any of the Sonic games? Which one was it?!
-
@MisterMints well if you remember that, then we both have the same memories... I dunno which one it was either... But... I do remember it.

Did you try it on the Master System or is that screenshot from Genesis?
-
IIRC sonic 3 was the only one you can do this in.
-
I also remember by my childhood that it was possible to keep the sign spinning at the end of the level. I am quite sure that it was Sonic 3 that you could do this. Im not sure if you could do it in any other Sonic games.

Thank you!!
I thought I was going crazy! Weird thing is I just dismissed Sonic 3 as I really don't remember playing it all that often. I remember getting frustrated that the first level, trying to be a bit like Green Hill Zone, was really slow moving and wasn't interested at all. Obviously I must have deleted the memory where we went onto play the rest of the game!
