Coin and Player 1 buttons not working on PiCade console...
-
Hi there, just built my new Picade Console and installed the latest version of retropi.
I’m using Raspberry Pi 3b with it.
Everything is working fine apart from the coin button (and player 1 button also). Both are “active” and can be seen as they both can be configured as a button in the config settings for Retropi but when using MAME it won’t “deposit a coin” so I can never actually start a game :(
I’ve checked the connections on the HAT and everything seems ok…
If I use a USB keyboard - I can use “6” to put in a coin but I need to use “1” to start player 1 game as the player one button doesn’t work at this point either
Any ideas good folks?
Cheers,
John
PS - I've posted this on PiMoroni too but as yet no help.

@skilgannon1971 Which 'Mame' ? There are multiple arcade emulators in RetroPie - which one are you using ? If you configured your buttons through the Emulationstation's input mapping dialogue, the the
Hotkey
button you've chosen (orSelect
) is mapped to the 'coin insert' action. -
@mitu thanks, I'm using Mame4all. I did configure the buttons through emulation station. The hotkey button was configured to "escape" originally (side right button on the console) but I've since tried to map the hot key to the all "black buttons" (P1, Coin etc) in turn with no joy. Still no coin insert...
Cheers
John

@skilgannon1971 mame4all is not automatically configured in the same way as the libretro emulators. It's also a bad choice for a RPI3. I would use lr-mame2003 - check the arcade documentation for more info.

Thanks @BuZz I'll try that now.
