Game & Watch (lr-gw) bugs? (SOLVED)
-
I love G&W emulator :D and i found a few weird quirks that i want to address. I guess these are minor bugs, and i hope from the bottom of my heart that the developer of this libretro core reads in here sometimes :) I did a search in here but didn't see any mention about these kind of observations.
First and foremost, I installed brand new raspi 4.4 image yesterday, running on a Pi3b. Updated raspi-config, then i updated retropie-config + all packages + underlying OS stuff. After that i installed lr-gw package from source (believing that this is the most fresh version?).
For now, my findings look like this -
Playing "Motor Cross (Queentex)":
The motor sound does not loop. It just plays once and then stops. If i accelerate, the correct motor sound plays, but it stops again. I imagine that this sound should loop (like it does in the video snap).Playing"Hippo Teeth (Sporty Time & Fun)":
Zoom function is kinda crooked (all the way to the right). I only see 1/3rd of the screen + the edge of the unit itself.Playing "Hot Line (Sporty Time & Fun)":
Zoom function is kinda crooked (all the way to the top). I only see the string that is tied to the unit + the "ludo Tronic" logo.So far, all the other G&W games i tried zooms and plays very well, even "Tennis Menace" which also is a "Sporty Time & Fun" variant, but zooms correctly.
I will trawl through all 59 of my G&W games this weekend and if i find any more quirks i will add them in a post to this topic.
I will be very happy if anyone can give me insight about how to fix this myself, or how i am able to advise the developer about my findings :)
Thx!

The RetroPie setup includes indeed the
lr-gw
core, but the best place to reach out to the developers of this Libretro core is either the libretro.com forums or directly on the project's page (https://github.com/libretro/gw-libretro). -
@mitu Actually, you helped me fix the stuff mentioned above just by pointing me to the correct project page :) Thank you so much!!!
First thing i see there is:
"v1.3: Fixed sounds not looping in Galaxy II, Motor Cross, and Tron."Hmm, i went to that libretro page where the games reside and downloaded a fresh copy of "Motor Cross", and the sound truly loops :D Then i got me a fresh copy of both "Hippo Teeth" and "Hot Line" and guess what :) They zoom perfectly. This truly is a great day :D
So, the conclusion must be that my G&W games are very old builds, and i can fix the quirks by updating all the titles into a full new set.
Thanks, man!!!!

Thanks you for sharing the solution.
I have fixed the link to the Libretro assets page in the Wiki, hopefully in the future this will be useful for people trying out the Game & Watch emulator.
