      @Dthruking Try using the Advanced configuration editor , advanced options - for the psx system only - and change the input_player1_joypad_index, input_player2_joypad_index and input_player3_joypad_index to 3, 1, 2.

      This would edit the file I requested (/opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg) adding the values for the configuration options above. Try to see if it works for re-ordering the gamepads. If it doesn't, we'll have to look at a log file.

        Ok I did what you said.

        Afterwards when I start a psx game it only recognizes 1 of my arcade joysticks. I have to use that joystick hotkey and f1 to go into the menu and change the user 1 input manually to my Gamepad then my gamepad will work. If I exit the game I have to do this all over.

        Any ideas?

          @Dthruking Can you provide a log file for the emulator ? Use the Runcommand launch menu and enable verbose logging when starting the game, then get the /dev/shm/runcommand.log file and post it on pastebin.com.
          My guess is that you still have some 'Save configuration on Exit' or similar setting checked, because doing the configuration with the Configuration Editor would maintain the same mapping.

              @Dthruking The log has not verbose logging enabled, so it's not clear what's the order of the joysticks. Enable verbose logging from the Runcommand launch menu and then try again to get the log file - put it on pastebin.com.
              EDIT: Looking at the output you posted, I see the joystick selection tool is on and you configured it for both all and psx systems. Try to remove the joystick selection tool if you want to use the Configuration Editor for the psx system.

                  @Dthruking Here is how to access the Runcommand launch menu, where you can choose to start the game with verbose logging enaled.

                      I see that the gamepad is picked as player 1 - but you have 2 configurations for this pad, RetroArch might not choose the right one.

                      Can you clear the configuration for the Gamesir-G3w ? Delete the cfg files for it in the /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypadsfolder , then re-configure the controller again in Emulationstation - this should generate again the controller configuration file. After that, just boot the game again and see if your controller is picked as Player 1.

                        Ok that works in the sense that it seems my gamepad is player 1. Now 2 things.

                        1. In game my bottoms are wrong. Top is circle, right is x, down is square and left is triangle.

                        Like all the buttons took a 1 button turn.

                        In the emulation station menu it works fine but in game those 4 buttons are wrong.

                        2nd. Now I’ve noticed the temperature icon flashing. Why would this be happening now? It wouldn’t have anything to do with these settings right? I’ve hd the setup for a few weeks with no temp problem. I have 2 heatsinks installed on the pi also

                          where the buttons on the controller are mapped with what you have chosen in ES. If they're not, maybe you've added them differently. You can however re-order them in the RetroArch RGUI - use the core input remapping screen and Save it for the currently running core.

                          As for the temp icon, I doubt there's something related to the scripts you've run, since they only configure the controller order and they're not something they're running all the time. Maybe you installed something else (a power button script ? ) or there's not enough ventilation for the power required for PS1 games.

                                Ok I will try that when I get home. So everything we just did to get psx working. Should I repeat all the steps for n64 to get it working properly?

                                  @Dthruking I don't think this will work with the N64, since it's not a RetroArch emulator. Configuring the controller in Emulationstation will also configure the controller in Mupen64plus - the N64 emulator - so if it doesn't work as P1, you'll have to modify the configuration file - it's in the N64 emulator page.
