Cherry Master (ver.1.01) ROM

Hi all. I just install retropie on my Pi3 and got it working on a few games. So far tested snes mario and psx monster rancher working fine. Somehow my main objective for the project in to run a cherry master rom. I have tested the rom working fine on my pc via MAME 0.172 (64-bit) but had no luck on the retropie. Can anyone teach me how do get it work? I download the cherry master rom from read the forum rules!. Thanks in advance!

You need the 'Cherry Master' rom from the rom set version that correlates with the version of Mame you're using. For example, if you're using 'lr-mame2003' you would need the 'Cherry Master' rom from the 0.78 rom set. It's all explained here and here. Since that particular game appears to be from the SNK library, you're probably going to want to look at emulating it with 'Final Burn Alpha', or perhaps 'GnGeo-Pi', but I haven't had much trouble running SNK games through 'lr-mame2003'. Also, keep in mind that you'll need the neogeo.zip BIOS file to get it up and running, but again, it's all detailed in the two links above.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I have read those 2 article and tried the method inside before. Its not working for me because i think the console is different. The cherry master i am referring comes from the actual arcade board. not from SNK. I have the working rom tested running on my pc using MAME 0.172 emulator, but i dont know which emulator should i use to run it via retropie. Can anyone help pls?

The linked guides are specifically for arcade roms. The SNK AES and MVS systems both used an almost identical cartridge format anyway, but I assure you that the information applies to your situation.

Further trying i come to know that the rom should be using MAME 0.164 ROMs version. Does it mean i need to get an emulator that is compatible with 0.164?

You're really going to need a rom from one of the listed rom sets that correlates to one of the already available arcade emulators in RetroPie. So, if you wanted the latest non-experimental Mame version of 'Cherry Master' for RetroPie, it would need to be from the 0.139 Mame rom set and you would launch that rom with lr-mame2003.

Edit: Being a Neo Geo game, you will also need the neogeo.zip BIOS file from the 0.139 Mame rom set as well.

Edit 2: Of course this example is just for Mame. Many people prefer running Neo Geo games through the FBA emulator. It's just important to remember to match the rom set version to the emulator you choose as detailed in the two links above.
