Is there an easier way to configure PiFBA on Retro Pie?
-
Hey guys,
I'm new to Retro Pie and I just built an arcade MAME cabinet and I'm having trouble getting several games to work. I want to run some of the Street Fighter games and Darkstalkers, but all of the Capcom fighting games seem to need PiFBA in order to run. That's fine, but the problem is that PiFBA does not use the same configurations for video and controls that the rest of the MAME emulators use.
The games keep running in 16:9 and not 4:3 like I need it to and the controls are all out of wack and won't follow the same setup as everything else. I did notice that there isn't a configuration menu for PiFBA like the others and I went in and edited some config files. I was able to get the video to 4:3 but as soon as I rebooted the Pi (even though I saved the file), it went back to 16:9. The config portion for the controls looked like pain in the ass to configure and I didn't even bother with it. Speed Test Scrabble Word Finder

@Aplam Unless you're using a Pi Zero or PI 1, there's no reason to use PiFBA. Use
lr-fbalpha
and you'll get the RetroArch configuration menus (and auto-configuration from Emulationstation if you configured there the controller(s)). Make sure you use the proper ROM set for thelr-fbalpha
version.
To answer to your question - no, there is not an easier way to configure PiFBA, mostly because it's an old and unmaintained FBA version and has very little use given thatlr-fbalpha
is also available.EDIT: but you already knew that, didn't you ?
