[Resolved] Select+Start not exiting games, if I change it to Select+X it works fine. Any ideas?

Hi,
Pi Model: 3b+
Power Supply: Canakit power supply
RetroPie Version: 4.4.14
Built From: Installed on top of latest version of raspbian
Controller used: 8Bitdo SN30
Error messages: None
Emulator: SNES(snes9x2002)
Retroarch /all config: https://pastebin.com/HU9tjY5dI am trying to set up a Pi3 with an 8bitdo SN30 controller. I have it linking up via bluetooth just fine, but I cannot for the life of me get Select+Start working to exit games.
I've set things up in EmulationStation, trying both actually using the select button for the hotkey enable part, and skipping that part and auto-assigning it to select. Neither worked.
So I went into the Retroarch config and set up everything in there. Still no luck.
I was trying to smash buttons to figure it out, and I noticed that Select+B brought up the retroarch quick menu. So we know that hotkeys are getting enabled, and that it's reading my input. So I tried changing the "Quit Retroarch" button in Retroarch to X. Lo and behold it works fine.
Start works fine in menus and pausing games in emulators. Any idea what could be going on here?? Driving me nuts. Thank you in advance.

The 8bitdo controllers have some functions programmed into the buttons, select + start might not be possible because it is waiting for a combination to change the bluetooth connection type. The manual should have something about it. I only ever used a 8bitdo M30 for a day or two, holding the start button for 5 seconds powered off the controller. When using wired mode two of the media type buttons wouldn't work, but I didn't try all of the connection type modes; switch, xinput, dinput, mac.
If you can access the terminal try this.
jstest /dev/input/js0
and look to see how the button signals are coming through when you combine button presses. -
@megasweet Re-configure your input in Emulationtation, when asked for a Hotkey just skip the assignment. Before exiting and saving, you'll be asked if you want to use
Select
as Hotkey - choose yes/ok.
Try again with the new mappings and see if it works. -
Retried using Android mode on the controllers instead of Switch mode and everything seems to work fine. I'm going to go with that. Thanks!
