          @zyul81 Run from the command line

          cd $HOME/RetroPie-Setup 
          git pull
          sudo apt install -y --reinstall lsb-release
          

          and then try again. I guess some files are corrupted on disk.

            @mitu after typing git pull it shows an error " cannot lock 'refs/remotes/origin/master': unable to resolve reference ' refs/remotes/origin/master' : reference broken
            From https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-setup
            ! [new branch] master -> origin/master (unable to update local ref)

              Can you try cloning again the RetroPie repo and see if you get any error:

              cd $HOME
              git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-setup rp.test

                @mitu when i try to reinstall lsb-release it says

                      @mitu im sorry yes i missed that part it downloaded the templates but at reinstalling lsb-release is still aborting

                          I think your installation is corrupted - the system installation utilities are not working and you'll not be able to fix it doesn't look like you can install anything on it. I'd say to save your ROMs and configs - via file shares - and reinstall.

                              @mitu I am running retropie on my raspberry pi 3 b plus earlier today I went to the retropie setup and it didn’t launch for me then I rebooted the system and it still didn’t work any suggestions?

                                @xgamer020 Please open a separate topic and describe your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
                                If you experience the same symptoms as in the current topic, then I'm afraid that the advice would be similar - backup and re-image.
