Here are some emulators being tested on the pi4

Saturn doesn't look good at the moment.

@Barcrest yabause-sanshiro libretro core clearly not running on the hardware properly. why even test on that when standalone exists? i do wish eta-prime would chill out on his quest for views and just wait until anyone who knows what they're doing has done the work for him. retroarch was reporting ARMv7, for a start...

@dankcushions he did an overclocking video and it was so bad and obviously for views.

He did over_voltage=2 and then two lines later did over_voltage=4, thus overwriting the first one.

@Bearwynn and in the videos I saw (dont know about his latest) he says nothing about proper stability testing. A lot of people out there just copy paste what they see him do and then wonder why their pi is freezing/crashing all the time.

@quicksilver He reviewed the GPi case, and everyone went and bought it. Then some users started complaining about an audio noise issue.
Turns out, Lon.TV reviewed the case too at about the same time as ETA Prime, but he really went into detail about that issue and I just dodged a freaking bullet thanks to that.

@jrb555 You know, I have become a stickler for reading reviews for this very reason. I've wasted some cash on taking someone's word for it. A lot of the '1 or 2 Star' reviews are the purchaser's faults or "1 Star because the green seems more pine green than army green" reviews but you'll catch a consistency among them if you read enough and there is a problem.

                    @retropi19
Upgrade Retropie to Buster does not work on pi4
Needs a clean buster base to boot and then same can be backwards compatible
                    Tested

Just got my first pi because I wanted to toy with this and other things and lucky me got the version that is not yet supported. Just wondering if there is an ETA for the version that is going to work with the rpi4. I have been looking and everything only states in the works and I was jsut curious about when it might be here.

@DKarn No set date for when RetroPie will work on the Pi 4. The devs are working on it.

@jrb555 I stopped watching ETA Prime for long time. His way of talking is very nice, but it's obvious he is doing these fake reviews/first hands on videos for advertising.

My Pi 4 just showed up in the mail!
Since RetroPie doesn't have an image ready yet, I guess I'll check out Raspbian since I've never used it proper.

EDIT: My urges were too much to handle, and I ended up compiling RetroArch to test PC98 performance. The number's aren't 100% accurate since I had a desktop enviroment (which could potentially hamper performance), but I did notice that we can go to 16x clockspeed multiplier without slowdown now, which is nice.

@marine88 You could always watch what is getting committed to the master branch: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/commits/master

This doesn't give you a good idea though on how soon you might see a pi4 RetroPie release though.

I highly recommend following on GitHub. It's also fun to read the GitHub discussions/banter and see how it all comes together. It really makes you appreciate the hard work these folks do.

@tmntnpizza It is being worked on, no ETA at the moment. But it will be ready when its ready. Stay tuned to the announcements thread as I'm sure they will say when its ready for release. As you can see from this thread you are not the first person to ask this question...

I'm new to the pi scene in general and recently picked up the 2gig pi 4.

Can anyone point me in the direction of stand alone emulators for 8 bit and 16 bit systems that currently work on the pi 4 ?
