Dilemma - pi zero and lr-mame2003
-
Hi
I currently have a Pi Zero W in a gpi retro case.
I am using retropie 4.5.1.My issue is that lr-mame2003 is slow to emulate some games on the Pi Zero W e.g. rainbow islands.
Lr-mame2000 works perfectly but the issue is it doesn't save hi scores.
I am trying to find a fast mame emulation that saves hi scores for the Pi Zero w
My questions are
Is there anyway to allow lr-mame2000 to save hi scores.
And are there any faster mame emulators for the Pi Zero W other than lr-mame2000 and 2003.
I haven't tested any of the later mame versions.Regards

@Jimi007 mame4all?
-
@BuZz I actually tried mame4all and found issues with setting up the controller buttons and joypad
But that was with an 8bitdo pad.
I might give it another go with the gpicase. -
Thanks @BuZz for the suggestion of mame4all.
If anyone has the GPi case with a pi Zero and is using Mame4all I just used a great guide from @SinisterSpatula to map the correct buttons on the Gpi case. Thanks for this guide.
Follow https://sinisterspatula.github.io/RetroflagGpiGuides/Controls_Updater_Menu
Now the controls are working perfectly and I can save my hi scores. Also games are running smoothly on the Pi Zero due to using mame4all.

@Jimi007 I've been able to setup mame4all to detect mi inputs in a GPI case using the guide you provided, but i don't seem to be able to save / load save states with the default shortcuts from other emulators (Select + L / R)
How do you create your saves? Thanks.

@ossespam saving hi score and saving states are two different things. mame4all cannot save state.
