MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME Reference Set to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!
We're still working things out with the new MAME ROW structure. We will play the winner all next week.

We'll close voting on Thursday this week
-
So we have:
- button masher to beat all button mashers
- sort-of Pengo clone
- sort-of Pac-Man clone
- generic horizontal shooter
- poor version of Tetris
XD
-
This week's winner is Bio-ship Paladin
-
Unique cursor firing? I might have to check that out.
-
@obsidianspider Sorry, didn't get time to try these out or vote this week (Hallowe'en is a very busy time in our household!).
Hopefully will get a chance to try them and log a score now though.
-
This game has some original ideas..
And the music on first stage is quite catchy :) -
Not good
-
I wish I knew how to play this game well.
-
@IanDaemon Had a few goes of this, but I can't beat your score yet! I got quite close, there's a lot going on though, and I'm not entirely sure how the powerups work!
-
Maybe I have the controls mapped...inconveniently. Hmmm. I think it's a two button game. One button I have to mash to keep firing ("b" I think) and the other ("a" I think) I can hold down and use the joystick to move the front orb. (That's not at all convenient.) And I can collect green balls to help protect my ship. And I think they fire. I don't remember. I can hold down the firing button to charge up a more powerful shot from my ship.
I think the "unique cursor firing" mentioned in the flyer is marketing-speak for "so confusing it'll take eight credits to figure how to play".
I'll check tonight in the MAME menu to make sure I'm using the default difficulty. If I'm scoring higher than @GtBFilms then set-ups may not be equal. XD

Bio Ship Paladin is a credit hog to be sure. I'm getting no sound when I play, but here are some screenshots of my settings:
-
@IanDaemon Great score. Fyi sound works with mame2003-plus emulator
-
MAME ROW #150 is now live. Options may or may not have been selected randomly…
-
@obsidianspider I've never seen random options. I've always seen settings stick. (unless there is a problem with write permissions)
-
@IanDaemon Nice score! I went with advmame 1.4 to get the sound working.
