USB keyboard not working
-
I'm trying to make an usb to work without success.
I also tried to mapping it like a joystick and that is ok, so the device is not broken.
Anyway if I wanna use keys like f4 they don't work at all.
I'm having issue either in EmulationStation and in gamingAny help?

Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, including what keyboard model are you using.

I'm using a Raspberry Pi 3 with the latest Retropie version installed.
The keyboard is a DELL USB Keyboard. I always used it with Retropie, today I installed Retropie on a new SD Card and I'm having issue with that keyboard -
@Chuck_B Are only the F(unction) keys not working, or the other mapped keys are also behaving erratically ?
-
@mitu if I map the keyboard buttons, just like a joystick these buttons work.
But every other button doesn't work at all -
Could you test another USB keyboard on that Pi and/or log into the Pi via SSH? You could then run these commands for further diagnosis:
Before plugging in the problematic keyboard:
tail -f /var/log/syslog
Then plug it in and you should see messages about it. Stop the command by pressing
Ctrl+C
.Or right after you connect it:
dmesg
Again, you should see messages about the keyboard.

I got updates!
I deleted the mapping of the keyboard from es_input.cfg, and now the keyboard works but only on to terminal mode, I can't move in EmulationStation menu and I can't use it while running a retroarch core.
What do you suggest?

@Chuck_B Did you try to configure the keyboard as a controller in Emulationstation?
-
@mitu I just did it and now seems to work correctly. Thank you. I'll let you know if I get other issues
