How? I mean, that is quite unusual. In my entire life since the inception of SD cards and Micro sd cards, I never broke any of them. And the smaller they are, the harder to break them.

I think we are overlooking something quite worrisome here. The ROBOT vacuum sucked up the 512GB, but what happened to it after that?!? I'm sure a stock Roomba doesn't need anywhere near 512GB to navigate a house. Are you SURE it's just vacuuming when you're not there....

I suspect foul play, with a robot uprising soon to follow.

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

HA! Yes, because Roombas have MicroSD slots.
            Actually they might...
Who's got a spare Roomba and a dremel they can lend me? 😂

How? I can't snap mine without a pair of vice-grips. Not that I've tried...

Two days ago I lost a 512GB card that was left on my home office. Most likely it fell on the floor and the robotic vacuum (that was soon emptied by my wife) sucked it.

So the "philosophical" argument I have right now is: are microSDs (and nano SIM cards) too small? When does practicality for small space goes over the top?

What did you have on the card ? You never specified. I assume Retropie. That was a good sized card.

I do not think they are too small. Storage mediums of any size are typically not removed from the device it is used in unless it is being moved to another device either permanently or temporarily.

I have external SSDs and HDDs and I while i enjoy that size, I wish they were much, much smaller. I love the idea of the USB flash drive that is dongle size, but the transfer speeds and heat buildup keep me from buying another.

Personally, I think the Commodore 64 floppy disk drives are the best storage medium. Roombas can't suck them up and a significant other doesn't know how to view the contents :)

@IceChes1 I'd suggest Nano SD cards, like its counterpart of Nano SIM cards.

@matchaman I saw that image too, but didn't look into it, because I thought its a SIM card. So, these are essentially Nano sd cards. But they are only produced by Huawei, so maybe not a standard soon. https://nasilemaktech.com/nm-card/
