      Hi all,

This is new for me, looks awesome and really want to try and install this. But can I still play NES, SNES and all the other systems as well? Or is this just pure for MAME?
Sorry for being a noob. And I figure that the Logitech Gamepad F310 works with this as well?

      Thanks!

Yes you can use whatever emulator you configure in Attract Mode, as long as it's installed and working in RetroPie.
This is just a different frontend rather than ES.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response.

@Floob no worries mate. Was just curious about the fixes and didn't want to mess around too much, I have your v1 set up really nicely now and didn't want to break it with my kludgy attempts.

Interestingly, I had done more or less done the same things although putting the delay in /10-emulationstation.sh would be cleaner. I'd probably forget I twiddled with rcS.d/S03keyboard-setup. As for the MOTD, I cleared it out by editing /pi/.bashrc instead.

AM is really, really neat. The rom filters are so flexible, plus the layouts can be completely tweaked. The more I fiddle, the more I'm liking it. So glad you made the images, thanks man.

One more thing, in your new video I noticed you put in the AM intro vid and it was playing smoothly. In my setup, the intro runs for 2 seconds and staggers to a halt. The .mp4 is in /.attract/intro and called from within AM. Was your intro set from within AM? Did you install ffmpeg in v2? Or did you set the AM intro as an ES video splashscreen instead?

Great, glad you've sorted most of that. I've included the mame ini files needed for filters in my build as well, so hopefully people will get stuck into the filters soon. I'll try and do a video about how to use them soon.

The video issue is just that I'm using a lower quality video. Try using the one that comes with the windows AM download.

Sorry not sure what pastebin is, just uploaded Dragon's Lair and Space Ace into DB. I linked to the public folder so should be downloadable without a DB accoutn etc.

Edit: I'll get them into your pastebin site when I'm home next.

What happens if you add this as the executable with "[romfilename]" as the argument?
          /opt/retropie/emulators/daphne/daphne.sh

Or maybe bash as the executable and the rest as the argument. I dont have a daphne image/rom, so I'm guessing here really.
          But I mean like this:
          http://pastebin.com/raw/13PCiKK9

Then you would create a bash .sh script for each game you have in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne
I think an example would look like:
          http://pastebin.com/raw/4mstSEDi

You would probably need to chmod that to be executable.
I'll be more help once I've got round to setting daphne up.

Please read the Docs before asking a new question.

Floob when I get home tonight I'll look at that. But I can tell you now after you started talking about scripting I'm pretty much lost.
Can you send me a pm on this?

Got a chance to see if this worked today.
Your second option seems to work almost perfectly. :) Thank you ver much for taking the time to look at this.
The only issue I am having now is the sword/gun buttons don't seem to register anymore even after configuring the the dapinput.ini file. I lost all controls and remapped the D-pad and buttons but only the D-pad now works.
Not sure why this would effect it, will look into it further tonight if I have a chance.

It's my understanding that if I want the roms to show video snaps, wheel images etc. in Robospin. The filename has to be the same as both the images and the roms. Does there by any chance exist a program that can rename the files so they match each other. I ask because I'm not interested in changing over 1000 roms manually. Thanks :)

@Brigane well unless you've renamed your roms all the video snaps/flyers/etc. from all the usual places are named the same as the roms.

@senkun I thought I had to get those files from places like emumovies.com and then rename them. I tried the scraper in AM but there are many files that can not be found.

I was able to find 95% of my files from Here only had to rename maybe 3 as my ROM set didn't have the right names on a few.

haha ditto. Oh and weed out and replace a couple which are like huge walkthroughs with insane +20MB filesizes.

For MAME its usually easy as there is a naming standard for roms, so they usually match. Also emumovies will dowload artwork and match your filenames. If you have a very different set of names for your roms and artwork, e.g. perhaps for a console, you can use something like FatMatch to rename the artwork.

                              Hi,

                              I must have missed something.

If I write the image to SD card, boot it and expand file system, when I go into Attract mode I get "press TAB to configure attract mode" as well as options to load Kodi etc....

At no point do I get the wheel or animation of games despite the fact that I have added roms (using the USB service).

                              What am I missing/doing wrong?

I only ever get the first menu as above.

You need to do exactly as it says, press TAB and configure all your emultors you have ROMS for.
You need to generate your ROMS list as well as place your artwork(snaps, wheel, marquee art et) in he proper directories. Or scrape your artwork.
You'll then configure your Displays you have emultors configured for, you need to tell it which layout you want to use etc.
Floob goes through all this in the first video, it's super easy to do.

                                  Hi, OK.

I will go back through the video. I just assumed that the USB ROM service would handle it and that the IMG already had it all set up with a default theme.

                                  Thanks for letting me know.

                                  Cheers

I know I can change the pointers in Layout options for each system (although the choice is only two different layouts).

Edit: Another thing is that AM seems a bit unstable, sometimes it just kicks me out in the terminal because of some error.

To add more pointer options to the Robospin theme this is what I did, might be a easier way though.

Add whatever .png pointer image you want to use to the pointers directory in the robospin-betanew layout , name it "pointer*" where asterisk is the number.

Open the layout.nut file in the robospin-betanew directory
Add a name for your new pointer to line #21 where you see rocket, hand, none

Scroll down in the layout.nut and duplicate (copy/paster below line #365) from line #335-365

Change "rocket" to whatever you named your new pointer in line #21
Change "pointers/pointer.png" to the number you gave your new pointer "pointers/pointer*.png"

Save it off, hit TAB, Displays, "Your emulator", Layout Options, Select pointer, pick the pointer you want to use.

Edit: Another thing is that AM seems a bit unstable, sometimes it just kicks me out in the terminal because of some error.

Are you overclocked or have large video files loaded? I know the only time AM has ever kicked out was when I tried to overclock to high. And when it goes into screen saver mod and uses the grid saver with higher res videos, doen't like that.

Yes I have an overclocked Pi and the crash does happen when AM is trying to show a ps1 game preview. the video files are about 10mb so should that really be the problem?
I tried again with overclock off but with no luck.
