      @BuZz There's no switch on my Pi so I've just been pulling the USB power cable out. Am I doing it wrong?

        @pinacolada That is the right place, and that was the name of the option prior to recent changes to that menu.

        Correct: you need to exit it via shutting down via the EmulationStation menu. It will then save things.

          @pinacolada yes.. you should shutdown via emulationstation. Later emulationstation versions save immediately but you could still lose data pulling the plug. You risk filesystem corruption also.

            Ok, so I added some favourites and tried "Restart Emulation Station" and the favourites were then retained, even after shutting it down, and restarting the pi itself.

            I'm a bit confused myself now, is it the "Restart Emulation Station" or the "Quit Emulation Station" that saves your favourites?

              Any of them will, but Quit EmulationStation will leave you at the terminal. You'd usually use "Shutdown" to turn off the system, or "Restart" to restart EmulationStation.

                Both - any time EmulationStation stops, the metadata (including Favorites) is automatically saved.

                  I'm actually still having a bit of a problem with this - just tried to add another game to favourites, it did add, but when I quit emulation station, and then restarted the pi, that game disappeared from favourites and the list reverted back to a list without that game.

                  Also tried adding a game to favourites then chose "restart emulation station" - same problem, favourites list reverts back to how it was on boot up.

                    @pinacolada check you haven't switched save metadata on exit off when you were in the settings.

                      @BuZz

                      Ok so, when I boot up, I have 6 x favourites. I add another, when I back out of favourites, it says I have 7. I double check the settings and "Save Metadata On Exit" is ON. I then choose "Restart Emulation Station".

                      When it comes back, the favourites count reverts to the original 6.
