Keyboard pause, frame skip etc won’t work without hotkey
-
Hi all,
I have tried over several rebuilds if my Pi4 using RetroPie to use wired SNES controller and a Keyboard wired into another USB port.
I want to be able to Pause a game with the keyboard, by simply pressing P, then pressing jump on my wired SNES controller, and then pressing K while counting how many frames of input lag there is, so I can then set the frame_ahead per game for the common ones I play.
At this stage, I have set my SNES config to skip ahead 1 frame, but I would really like to be more exact.
My problem is, I need to actually configure the keyboard as a controller in EmulationStation and set a hotkey before I can do any of the keyboard actions like fast forward, pause etc. and I need to hold my hotkey on the keyboard while I do this. I then try the jump and keyboard (hotkey + frame skip) but it never jumps. I’ve then tried using the keyboard to hotkey + pause / keyboard jump + hotkey + frame skip) but that doesn’t work either.I’ve had a look over the net and can’t find out why this is happening, I’ve cleared my confine and reset up many times, do I even need to setup the keyboard as a controller? Because I’m the pi menus it works fine.
Please can somone help me, it’s really driving me nuts.
Thanks

@geniee33 if you bind a hotkey, hotkey function will require it. if you clear you hotkey binding, they will all work without it. i don't believe you can have a mix of the two.

@dankcushions but am I even supposed to configure the keyboard as an input device in Emulation Station?
Also, in the Retropi-config \ retro arch settings \ tools, there are some keyboard options there with 3x settings, I have tried all 3x with no luck . -
There is a thread about this.
