PS1 games that have bugs in retropie
-
Hi! Now pcsx-rearmed has dynarec. Will this help us to play the games we're talking about?
I tested Driver and it keeps to crash. Maybe need some setting?
Anyone tested it? -
@Chuck_B pcsx has always had dynarec for arm32. the new lightrec dynarec is for non-arm32 platforms only (ie, not raspberry pis). it is capable of working for arm32 platforms but a) it’s slower than the older dynarec, and b) it currently has a bunch of show stopper bugs with arm32.
so... potentially, but not ready yet.

@dankcushions thank you very much for this explanation :)
-
I recently finished the Final Fantasy 8. The game crashes sometimes at random times. Also vibration does not work.
-
FYI: Bug in Driver should be gone as per https://github.com/notaz/pcsx_rearmed/issues/101

Hi Guys,
I've been using retropie with RPI4 and I confess that is working pretty well with just a few adjustments so the graphics looks better, normally I just need to turn on the "bilinear filtering" and then I change the aspect ratio to 16:9 in order the screen can be adjusted to my TV.
The problem that I found and which I couldn't fix it yet is when I play Colin Mcrae rally 2.0 from PSX, the game plays very well but suddenly when I'm playing it exits back to emulationstation. I've already seen some topics about the same issue but without any solution. I tried many different configurations, both enhanced resolution and enhanced resolution(speed hack) on, I tried it off as well but no lucky. I changed the the cpu clock from 57 (default) to 46, I tried all defaults and nothing fix the issue.
I'm using the bios psxonpsp660.bin
- I tried many different version of the rom and now I'm using the original one (dumped from the CD original to .bin, .cue format).
Any help would be appreciated :)

I haven't found any games that down right crash but everytime I play Doom the graphics are awful. Just disappear into each other. Also experience severe slow down on Command & Conquer Red Alert
-
@hawkes_84 Turn off the high resolution option to fix your problems with Doom.
-
I'm using the bios psxonpsp660.bin
This sounds odd, might be recommended for the PSP to run EBOOTS.
The one that should be used with lr_PSXReArmed is "SCHP1001.BIN". -

ok, thanks @dankcushions.
i did not know that, i guess i had a look at PSXRearmed (non-libretro) when i started with retropie a couple of yeras ago.
I cannot remember that there were so much BIOS-files to choose from :) -
@George-Spiggott i forget where i do that? Retroarch menu is it?
-
Another game I'd like to add is Xenogears. The sound in the menus is harsh and blown out. No amount of setting changes in retroarch have an effect. Image and core are update to latest version. Tried both bin+cue and PBP - even different files from different sources.
-
-
Today a patch release for the Xenogears that fix a critical bug that can cause soft-lock during a boss fight in the second disk. The patch except the bug fix, offers and some other improvements. More information here :https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5284/
-
Also, Formula One Arcade doesn't work, it crashes after the loading.
-
Final Fantasy VIII maybe will soft-lock after the Lunar Cry FMV sequence (Disk 3). To avoid this, before the FMV start, enable the "InuYasha Sengoku Battle Fix" in the RetroArch options. Don't forget to disable it after .
Despite the above bugs i have successfully complete Xenogears and Final Fantasy VIII till the end.

@windg Excellent timing! I will give it a go and update when I can.

@jose1711 Is this specifically the PAL version or does it work for NTSC as well? Will have to try it either way when I get a chance. This has been the biggest disappointment in PSX emulation for me for years. No emu runs it right.

Both versions, PAL and USA, are crashing with the latest version of lr-pcsx-rearmed. Maybe the new version of the emulator with the fix, isn't released yet.

Does anyone know how to get the secret characters of Soul Blade/Edge to work? I mean especially Sophitia! and Sophitia!! (and one other I forgot). Whenever I select one of those, the game crashes.
Iirc this also happens on the PSX emulator of the PS3, but definitely with lr-pcsx-rearmed... -
I'm playing the Metal Gear Solid this period and I'm at a certain point where you have to do something special to beat a boss.
Spoiler:
I'm talking about the Psycho Mantis Boss fight, you need to connect the gamepad from port1 to port2 of the PS1 console so he can't read your mind.
I did this in RetroPie with the use of a keyboard and gamepad.
So before the fight with the boss open the RetroArch Main menu, then:
Settings => Input =>
-Port 1 Binds => Device index. Set it to disable. When you did this, the gamepad will stop responding in the RetroArch, so you have to use the keyboard.
-Port 2 BInds => Device index. Select your gamepad.
Close RetroArch (without saving the settings) and enjoy.

Dynasty Warriors was unplayable because it was running very slow. We can fix this if we change the psx cpu clock from the RetroArch menu.
During the game is running, open the RetroArch menu and
from the options change the psx cpu clock from 57 to 78, then choose to save game option fie and restart the emulator. If you want to backup the option file you can find it to this path
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/PCSX-ReARMed
