      What is the MAME ROW?

MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME Reference Set to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!

We will play the winner all next week.

Ah Captain Tomaday. What a weird shoot'em up in which you punch enemies as a flying tomato. Wacky. As I recall you have one button for left fist and one button for right fist.

I can't watch that Devil World video without thinking that "Trogdor" is off-screen "burninating" all those thatch-roofed cottages.

Huh, so ThunderForce AC is a version "ThunderForce III". That's a lot of ThunderForces:

        Thunder Force (X1) (1983)
        Thunder Force II (X68000) (1988)
Thunder Force II MD (Mega Drive/Genesis) (1989) (port of Thunder Force II)
Thunder Force III (Mega Drive/Genesis) (1990)
Thunder Force AC (Arcade) (1990) (port of Thunder Force III retooled into an arcade game)
Thunder Spirits (Super NES) (1991) (port of Thunder Force AC)
Thunder Force IV (Mega Drive/Genesis) (1992) (a.k.a. Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar)
Thunder Force Gold Pack 1 (Sega Saturn) (1996) Contains Thunder Force II and Thunder Force III.
Thunder Force Gold Pack 2 (Sega Saturn) (1996) Contains Thunder Force IV and Thunder Force AC.
Thunder Force V (Sega Saturn) (1997)
Thunder Force V: Perfect System (PlayStation) (1998) (port of Thunder Force V)
Thunder Force VI (PlayStation 2) (2008)

So they released "III" five times?

        • Mega Drive/Genesis in 1990 (as III)
        • Arcade in 1990 (as AC)
        • Super NES in 1991 (as Spirits)
        • Sega Saturn in 1996 (as III)
        • Sega Saturn in 1996 (as AC)

I always found the "fixed distance bombing"...not so useful, but I guess it could really improve my score. I never played Xevious much.

That's not the Devil World I'm familiar with. Didn't Capcom have a "Devil World" that was a side-scroller?

@IanDaemon I never saw Devil World from Konami before, looks interesting. Nintendo made a Devil World too, Shigeru Miyamoto's first console only game. This is the only Devil World I know (before finding out about Konamis game). A quick search in MobyGames does not reveal anything else.

You're right, I'm wrong. I'm thinking of Toaplan's Demon's World (1989). I knew about the Nintendo one, but I was remembering Toaplan's game.
