      So most retroarch emulators follow the default retroarch config and only have this inside their system-specific retroarch.cfg:

      #Settings made here will only override settings in the global retroarch.cfg if placed above the #include line

      input_remapping_directory = "/opt/retropie/configs/gb/"

      #include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg"

      However, the GBA retroarch.cfg is huge and explicitly specifies all the controller mappings and other settings, and if I remove them by deleting lines or the whole file, it's just created again when launching a ROM

      Is there any way to keep the GBA retroarch config minimal and adopt the generic defaults??

      Cheers

        @Finndersen delete the retroarch.cfg for that emulator. Then go into retropie settings. Then click on retropie setup. Then in there choose update retropie-setup. Then after that click on manage packages then choose main mackages and update the emulator that is causing the problem. That will fix it.

            @Finndersen it was some problem with retroarch and the update. Its been fixed. Henced why you needed to update retropie-setup first.

              @edmaul69 Belated thanks here. I had an older version and a full update had me stumped for a week. Your solution worked like a charm. :)
