Neogeo - Problems - Hours wasted.

Let me begin. Like many noobs to retropie/raspberry pi, I am at a complete loss. All youtube retro guide videos use networking, and my only option is by a USB as my PC will not allow me to use networking (I've tried everything to stop my PC blocking the link). Also, the dummy guides are too complex for beginners like me.
The problem I am having is getting a bio to connect with retro pie. I've managed to download the bios, create the folder named 'neocd' and popped the bios into the folder like so...
And a few random games....
Could anyone baby step me towards the right direction from here, please?

I don't understand ; you don't seem to have indicated your problem. Are your games not playing? Are they not appearing in Emulation Station?
Which tutorial are you following?
Your bios is all wrong for neocd, you should have a neocd.zip and a neocdz.zip and they should not be in a separate folder. I'll have to check later but they should be in your BIOS directory.IF you provide the information requested here and clarify what you're trying to accomplish, I'm sure somebody can help you with it.

@chobbins so your issue seems to concern neogeo cd (NB : neogeo usually refers to neogeo mvs/aes, the ones running with cartridges) ? i see 2 issues here :
- assuming you are using the neocd libretro core, your bios doesn't follow requirements mentioned at https://github.com/libretro/neocd_libretro#required-bios-files , considering its name i don't even think that's actually a neogeo cd bios (looks like aes/mvs unibios to me).
- i don't think the neocd libretro core can read zipped isos, and i don't think those are neogeo cd isos either (looks like neogeo pocket games to me)
Maybe you should start by deciding which system you want to play and reading the related documentation, because it seems you made a big mess by mixing things from 3 differents consoles...

that's true if he is using mame or fbneo for neogeo cd emulation, in which case neogeo.zip is also required.

@barbudreadmon Basically, I'm setting up a raspberry pi Xmas gift for my dad with many retro games, and the NeoGeo I'm having issues with. The ps1 was a piece of cake that uses bios, and now I'm beginning to believe it is the Bios for the NeoGeo is wrong. However, they all seem to be wrong. When looking for a neocd.zip, after download they are worded different or not saying zip.
I would love to know where to get the correct bios from, but the rules prevent me from asking. It's like fight club rules. Rule one, don't talk about fight club. Rule two, don't talk about fight club, lol.

@Zering From research, it's just my Bios that is wrong I'm guessing. I'm sure that I'll bump into the correct one sooner or later I'm guessing.

@chobbins I think your problem is a bit more complex than that.
The bios is the easy part, either you've got the right one or you don't.
The problem if you're looking to set up Neo Geo is that a neocd.zip won't help you in the slightest as that's a Neo Geo CD bios.
Before you do anything else I recommend you read the Neo Geo documentation on the RetroPie website. -

No, as i said, you are trying to launch games for 1 system (neogeo pocket games) with an emulator for another system (lr-neocd, which emulates neogeo cd) while using the bios for a third system (neogeo mvs/aes). You need to decide on 1 system.
If it's for your father, you can never go wrong with neogeo aes/mvs, which was the dream console for anyone from my generation. Neogeo cd was the "cheap" version of that console, and while emulation cancel its main drawback (loading time), the graphics are still inferior to the mvs/aes and the games use more storage, so i don't recommend it. Neogeo pocket was a handheld, and a niche one.
Documentation about neogeo emulation is there : https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Neo-Geo/ . You'll have to read all of it and the linked documentation specific to the emulator you'll chose, otherwise i think you can give up on neogeo emulation.
